Senior DevOps Engineer

Posted Mar 11

Remote - Contract: We are looking for fully remote Developers ONLY in LATAM that can work until 2pm in the Mountain Time Zone. Preference will be given to candidates in Argentina or Brazil.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer. In this role, you’ll be our very first full-time DevOps Engineer! You will be an integral part of our Engineering team where you’ll own improving and rebuilding our infrastructure and our self-hosted CI/CD setup. Your work will expose the blind spots in our application and infrastructure, making them highly observable and insanely reliable. As we continue to grow, you’ll put us in a position to surmount all the complex challenges that come with scaling technology. You’ll love working with our highly collaborative and focused product and engineering teams. Does the opportunity to build out the DevOps function at a fast-growing startup sound exciting to you? Then let’s talk!

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at TurboTenant, you’ll do the following:

  1. Own, maintain, improve, and scale our technology infrastructure.
  2. Propose and help integrate security practices into the development and deployment process
  3. Identify and implement cyber security improvements, performing continuous vulnerability assessment.
  4. Troubleshoot issues with the product and infrastructure for our cloud-native architecture.
  5. Automate the building and deployment of products into the infrastructure.
  6. Automate the changes to infrastructure, and treat infrastructure as code.
  7. Create “self-service” tools for engineers, QA, and eventually other teams.
  8. Coach other team members through mentorship, sharing best practices, documenting changes, and training team members on new tools and automation.
  9. Collaborate across our engineering, product, QA, and design teams, to think strategically and analytically about how to improve the product, infrastructure, performance, technology, security, and how we build software at TurboTenant.

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Have 4+ years of DevOps engineering experience in a fast-moving team, maintaining and deploying highly available and fault-tolerant systems at scale.
  • Be able to explain and communicate your work to non-technical team members at all levels of the organization
  • Have strong experience with the core services of Amazon Web Services: IAM, EC2, VPC networking and security, block and object storage, CloudFront, Data Migration Service, ECS/Fargate.
  • Have experience creating full “hands off” automation solutions in common programming languages. Examples are Bash, NodeJS, or Python.
  • Have experience with containerization, clustering, and various common ecosystem tools.
  • Have experience using infrastructure-as-code tools to create full-stack deployments of infrastructure and the ability to automate an entire infrastructure using these tools.
  • Have experience with implementation of CI/CD, particularly Jenkins, and the various tools required for building these processes (e.g. git)
  • Have operational experience of relational and NoSQL databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, Amazon Athena, etc
  • Have experience in applying security best practices to both infrastructure design and while building, configuring and deploying code.
  • Have experience with monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Already have your AWS certification or be willing to work toward it within your first year at TurboTenant
  • Ability to work until at least 2 pm MST to ensure overlap with existing team members.
