Zensurance’s Finance team is instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely reporting to regulatory bodies, vendors and payroll. We are looking for a Senior Finance Analyst to join the team!
As a Senior Finance Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely reporting to regulatory bodies, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Reporting to the VP of Finance & Accounting, you’ll leverage your expertise to drive key initiatives that enhance financial support and control within our organization. You’ll also contribute to the development of business unit budgets and ensure all financial compliance information aligns with regulatory standards.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with accounting professionals and leaders to maintain the accuracy of our financial records and reports. As a senior member of the team, you’ll also have the opportunity to coach and mentor junior accounting professionals, helping to elevate the entire Finance and Accounting team’s capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Create, delegate and reconcile weekly, monthly and quarterly accounting records using Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management tools.
- Oversee the preparation, review and approval of balance sheet reconciliations, according to account schedules.
- Perform reporting and operational metrics tracking to ensure company objectives are being met and delivered by set deadlines.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of reporting dashboards using Excel. Identify areas of improvements and opportunities for efficiencies. Improve internal controls.
- Report on and advise on financial performance, prepare for management review. Identify reporting and financial trends, make recommendations for improvements by analyzing and interpreting data, and making comparative analysis.
- Prepare and peer review the electronic transfers of money, wires and bill payments to ensure accounts remain in good standing.
- Analyze and forecast future cash flow requirements and expenditures.
- Review, monitor and maintain trust ledger, including journal entries, such as accrued liabilities and accrued expenses.
- Collaborate with the Finance team on internal and external audits by creating, implementing and documenting processes and procedures to prepare for audits.
- Perform peer reviews of regular government and compliance reporting and filling such as CRA, Insurance Regulatory Bodies, Ministry of Finance, etc.
- Collaborate with the Team Lead on the preparation and review of budgets. Present reports to department heads.
- Work closely with various stakeholders both internally and externally, including Insurance Carriers, business partners, and customers to request and provide updated financial information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in progress.
- 5+ Years of general accounting experience.
- Excellent analytical, financial, and mathematical abilities.
- Working knowledge of GAAP (IFRS and ASPE).
- Experience in insurance or a brokerage is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency of MS Excel.
- Advanced experience in Xero, SAP, NetSuite, or other accounting software.
- Thorough understanding of the budgeting process. Intermediate understanding of forecasting.
- Experience using GSuite and Salesforce is an asset.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Zoom and Slack, or similar office tools.
