An overview of this role
GitLab is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join our FP&A team, supporting R&D and G&A. In this highly visible role, you will develop analyses to drive strategic decisions for both short-term and long-term planning for operating expenditures and resource allocation. Successful candidates for this role will bring exceptional analytical capabilities, effective communications skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners. Knowledge of R&D, G&A finance, and strong, high-growth public company financial planning and analysis experience preferred.
What you'll do in this role
- Business Partnership: Develop high-trust partnerships with leaders across R&D and G&A.
- Financial Modeling: Build, maintain and improve financial models to plan, measure and forecast the business.
- Planning and Financial Analysis and Controllership: Drive financial processes and results with minimal guidance; manage the annual, quarterly budget that supports partnering organizations’ operating needs.
- Data Analysis: Translates analysis into clear data-driven insights.
- Project Management: Run medium-sized projects that drive growth and improve cost efficiencies.
- Communications: Target audience CFO, CFO staff and functional executives.
- Autonomy: executes with limited supervision from senior members of the team.
- Extends the FP&A Analyst responsibilities.
We're looking for
- 5-7 years of experience in a Finance role, enterprise SaaS experience a plus.
- Experience owning a business function as a Finance Business Partner, ideally in R&D, or G&A.
- BS degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant degree. MBA or relevant certification (e.g. CPA/CFA) is a plus.
- Business Acumen: Be able to understand the business at a level to understand EVP priorities
- Financial Modeling: Be able to understand and update financial models that follow industry best practices; high proficiency in G-Suite.
- Business Partnership: Consistent track record of using quantitative analysis to impact business decisions, partner with R&D and G&A organizations to drive efficient resource allocation across the company.
- Data Analysis: A passion for data-driven insights. Excellent analytical skills. SQL experience preferred.
- Detail orientation: Ability to work through complex datasets or problems independently and build an understanding for a solution across multiple data sources.
- Knowledge of planning (Adaptive, Anaplan or similar), reporting (Netsuite, Oracle or another ERP), BI (Sisense, Tableau), and Procure-to-Pay (Coupa, Airbase, Zip) systems.

The base salary range for this role’s listed level is currently for residents of listed locations only. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. See more information on our benefits and equity. Sales roles are also eligible for incentive pay targeted at up to 100% of the offered base salary.
Colorado/Washington pay range
$80,600—$155,500 USD
California/New York/New Jersey pay range
$80,600—$172,800 USD
