About the job:

Red Hat is looking for a dynamic and adaptable Senior Global Accountant to join the Global Consolidation Accounting team. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring accounting integrity and operational process effectiveness for many aspects of Red Hat’s financial statements including intercompany capital contributions and dividends, compensation and benefits and monthly financial reporting. This position will be primarily focused on accounting with an emphasis on the impact of intercompany transactions and other general ledger activity. The role will focus on US GAAP and reporting needs for the Company’s various financial statements and reporting deliverables. This role will also provide support to other key accounting areas within the Global Consolidation Accounting team.

What you will do:

  • Record journal entries, prepare balance sheet reconciliations and perform analyses
  • Develop, standardize and optimize policies
  • Benchmark and apply industry and internal best practices
  • Proficiently diagnose and identify problems and needs; define and prioritize improvements, ensure alignment to process vision, strategy and goals.
  • Proactively communicate and overcome barriers to deliver expected outcomes
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand reporting deliverables and maintain supporting systems (Oracle and related apps - EBS, Account Reconciliation Manager, Financial Close Manager, GL Wand, etc.)
  • Prepare supporting documentation and analysis for a broad range of accounting areas
  • Support audit requests – both external and internal
  • Assist in process control requirements relevant to topic and where appropriate implement process efficiencies
  • Model professionalism and operate in the spirit of teamwork and trust; promote a responsive, supportive and open environment.

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate degree (B.S. or equivalent) in Accounting. Advanced degree in Accounting preferred
  • CPA or current CPA exam candidate strongly preferred
  • 3-5+ years progressive experience. Combination of public accounting and industry strongly preferred
  • Experience with ASC 842 is a plus.
  • Attention to detail is critical to the success in this role
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment and possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Proficiency in Excel is required; experience with tools such as Tableau, KNIME, GL Wand, Reports Wand, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Desire and ability to work cross functionally with other departments (Regional Accounting Teams, Legal, FP&A & Technical Accounting)
  • Working knowledge of Oracle ERP system a plus
  • Excellent communicator (verbal and writing skills): effectively engages audiences ranging from individual-contributor to executive-leadership levels across all geographies and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of collaboratively working with diverse teams.
  • Passion for rapidly learning and applying new skills and technologies.
  • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
