Senior Graphic Designer
About Loyal
Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing drugs intended to extend the lifespan and healthspan of dogs. In other words, our mission is to help dogs live longer, healthier lives.
We’ve already achieved significant milestones on our path to gaining FDA approval for the first lifespan extension drug for any species. We have three products in our pipeline and are on track to bring the first product to market in 2025.
Loyal is a well-funded startup in growth mode. Our team includes scientists, veterinarians, engineers, operators, and creatives. This role will play a key role in supporting our growth strategies.
About the role
Loyal is less than 12 months away from the projected launch of our first product. We’re seeking an experienced Senior Graphic Designer to focus on creating high-quality print materials that effectively communicate Loyal’s brand and scientific innovations. This role involves a range of responsibilities from designing drug packaging to developing graphics for scientific publications and clinical trials.
You will be reporting to our Creative Director, Jeff Fan.
Your daily work will include:
- Drug packaging
- Design innovative and compliant packaging for our veterinary drugs, ensuring clear communication of the product’s benefits and usage.
- Conference booth design
- Create engaging and informative booth designs for industry conferences, including banners, displays, and handouts.
- Merch design
- Develop branded merchandise that aligns with Loyal’s image and appeals to our audience.
- Clinical trial end-to-end experience
- Design materials related to clinical trials, ensuring clarity and consistency in communication.
- Science publications graphics
- Create detailed and accurate illustrations and graphics to accompany scientific publications, making complex information accessible and visually appealing.
- Out-of-home (OOH) advertising
- Design impactful advertisements for outdoor media, such as billboards and posters, to increase brand awareness.
About you:
- 5+ years of experience in graphic and print design.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work within regulatory guidelines.
- Strong understanding of branding and visual communication.
While not required, we’d be especially excited if you:
- Experience in 3D design (e.g. Blender, Cinema 4D)
- Experience in motion graphics
- Experience in illustration
- Experience in photography/videography
How you work and think:
- Gladly participate in a team-oriented culture
- Ability to thoroughly research novel concepts and communicate ideas
- Self-starter who is always looking to push the ball forward
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented, disciplined, naturally seeking ownership and responsibility, and happy to be working on a mix of the fascinating and the mundane
- Professional and clear communicator with the ability to distill out the important information for relevant stakeholders no matter how complex the scenario
- Growth mindset, value transparency, seek out feedback and iteration cycles.
Why you might not like this role:
- All designers at Loyal are expected to be design generalists or “full-stack” designers. This means that they are capable of carrying a project from ideation to final deliverables. This may include scoping projects, strategy, research, project management and creating production-ready assets.
- This is a fast-paced, rapidly-scaling startup environment.
- We may be comfortable with more ambiguity and uncertainty than you are accustomed to, as we like to test hypotheses early. You’ll need to be comfortable taking full responsibility for your area of expertise, with support and guidance from the rest of the team and company.
- You’ll need to be comfortable adapting to change, and operating in a fast-paced, highly-regulated environment.
- You’ll need to build and troubleshoot processes from scratch.
- You’ll need to be creative in solving problems, especially those without precedent.
- Building difficult things is…difficult. The process forward is not always linear.
- We continually find ways to enhance remote working and communication.
What you will gain from this role:
- Experience leading the launch of a first-of-its-kind drug to market
- A working environment that is positive, kind, thoughtful, and full of some of the smartest people in the industry
- Experience building process and doing impactful work
