The Opportunity:
The TrueCar Creative Department is an in-house agency, comprised of world-class creatives. Our team prides itself on creating a fun, inclusive culture where ideas and inspiration are shared in spades, and the right person will dive right in. We are looking for a meticulous graphic designer with a passion for simplicity and clarity in design. Someone in love with design whether it comes in the form of graphic, architectural, interior or environmental design. A conceptual storyteller who crafts a visionary approach to their work where each design decision is carefully considered. Agency and big brand experience required (tech/automotive a plus). This role reports to the Associate Director, Creative and will collaborate with a stellar team of graphic designers. The work will be wide and varied, including but not limited to: campaign concepting, digital advertising, social media advertising, both paid and organic social media content, storyboards, print design (out-of-home, handouts, etc), generative AI, UI/UX, web design, illustration, company events and swag. How you’ll contribute to TrueCar’s success:
- Conceptualize and create visually appealing graphics, illustrations, and layouts for various digital and print media, including internal collateral and events, websites, emails, social media, brochures, advertisements, and other marketing materials.
- Interpret Creative Briefs and be strategically minded. Collaborate with team members to determine objectives, style, and approaches necessary to complete creative projects.
- Collaborate with the marketing and creative teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Craft and deliver insightful presentations and present work to key stakeholders regularly, effectively communicating your process and rationale with all levels of management.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Support and elevate junior graphic designers through guidance, mentoring, feedback, giving tutorials, etc.
- Present ideas with passion, while being able to take direction and be open to design critique.
- Be willing to ask for mentorship and strive for continual improvement.
- Focus on the big picture of creative workflow, processes, and efficiency, and help develop design standards and best practices while helping to maintain consistent brand identity.
- Actively participate in brainstorming and help maintain a creative and fun design team culture.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in graphic design and digital media.
Your Expertise:
- Extensive design experience, preferably in agency or startup environments, with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess a love for design and understand how it affects brands and our world.
- A designer who keeps up with modern design trends yet is focused on keeping a brand identity consistent with ambitions to elevate when possible.
- Ability to think strategically, conceptualize creatively and work independently to see the concept through from start to finish with flawless execution.
- Ability to bring big concepts and ideas to life with compelling visual concepts and designs.
- A self-driver who takes proactive initiative with energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, hustle, hunger and an amazingly curious attitude that is consistently seeking out creative opportunities above and beyond the day to day tasks.
- Strong project management skills (can interface with client teams and handle communications to move projects forward independently, align any content that might be needed to design effectively, ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner, etc)
- Discerning creative decision maker and leader that can effectively guide team members to the strongest solutions.
- Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Proficient in using Figma.
- Experience using the latest AI tools (Midjourney, Adobe Firefly, Adobe Express, etc)
- Well-versed in Powerpoint and Keynote.
- Strong understanding of design composition and layout.
- Digital experience: Banner design, web, email design and social media design.
- Understand UX design—must have the ability to discuss and design responsively and mobile-first.
- Ability to storyboard animation-based videos and develop designs for how the brand can manifest in motion.
- Good organizational and time management skills needed to manage multiple projects simultaneously while keeping a cool, positive upbeat attitude.
- Energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, hustle, hunger and an amazingly curious attitude that is consistently seeking out creative opportunities above and beyond the “day-to-day” tasks.
- Animation and editing skills are a plus.
- Art School diploma is a plus.
Base salary range: $72,000 - $110,000
