Senior Indirect Tax Manager

PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Manager to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As Senior Indirect Tax Manager, you will collaborate cross-functionally with key business partners (FP&A, IT, Sales, Product, Legal, Rev Ops, etc.) to develop and/or refine global expansion processes.

How You Impact Our Vision

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple levels of leadership as it relates to delivering global statutory and go-to-market requirements to ensure compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of indirect tax regulations and a passion for developing and executing strategies to ensure compliance with the legal and regulatory environment.
  • Own and drive global account reconciliations for indirect tax accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. 
  • Lead and manage indirect tax audits and inquiries, ensuring a smooth and efficient process while minimizing financial and reputational risk.
  • Proactively identify indirect tax opportunities and analyze complex tax issues related to business expansion, systems, and controls, independently providing recommendations and solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Support ERP transformation by driving the implementation of a global tax engine to support our continuing global expansion and sales tax implications.
  • Develop and successfully implement global VAT/GST/Sales tax training materials, including partnering with key stakeholders on driving new processes, requirements, and policy
  • Manage and build relationships with external advisors providing global indirect tax compliance services to ensure accurate and timely filings
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring across the team
  • Lead cross-functional finance projects and process improvements to increase efficiencies and scale with the business.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 6+ years of progressively more technical indirect tax experience gained in public accounting and/or Industry with a deep knowledge of US domestic indirect taxes (Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax) and broad knowledge of international indirect taxes (VAT/GST) laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading Finance projects and process improvements to increase efficiencies and scale with the business.
  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience successfully working across time zones and with team members residing in various geographic locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional audit certification - Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Masters in Taxation or LLM 
  • Prior working experience with Avalara or Vertex
  • Proven experience managing and researching complex indirect tax (VAT/GST) concepts relating to the cross-border movement of SaaS with material impact to the business and other similar issues.
  • Proficient Excel Skills
  • Able to assist others in optimizing software tools to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of tasks and reporting.
  • Self-starting personality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and personalities simultaneously. Strong drive and great work ethic. Get it done attitude.
  • Expert analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Collaborative communication style and ability to work cross-functionally with people at different organizational levels with a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

The base salary range for this position is 142,000 - 217,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
