We are seeking a talented and experienced (Freelance) Senior Interaction/Motion Designer to join our dynamic design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in microinteractions, enhancing user interactions with motion, and contributing to design systems. Experience in creating short animated videos is a plus. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, mentoring other designers on motion principles, and pushing the boundaries of motion design to elevate our product experiences.

IMPORTANT: This role is remote and available to candidates in the US, and Canada. It is required that you work on Pacific Time.

Responsibilites

  • Add motion to interactions, UI and layouts on onboarding flows, landing pages, and other key user journeys.
  • Enhance the overall user experience by creating fluid and intuitive animations that guide and delight users.
  • Develop and maintain motion guidelines and assets within our design system.
  • Design and produce short animated videos for new features, marketing campaigns, and product presentations.
  • Ensure animations align with the brand’s visual style and storytelling objectives.
  • Ensure consistency in motion design across various platforms and touchpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineers, product designers, content designers, researchers, product managers, operations, leadership, and interns.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Motion or Interaction Design related roles.
  • Proficiency in creating short animated videos for product features.
  • Skilled in adding motion to interactions and layouts for onboarding and landing pages.
  • Experience with Lottie, Rive or other 2D web based animation tools.
  • Understanding of choosing the right technology for the job. Working collaboratively with developers on implementation.
  • Advanced expertise with After Effects or equivalent animation software.
  • Experience with 3D animation software like Spline, Cinema 4D, etc.
  • Strong skills in advanced prototyping tools, particularly Figma.
  • Experience contributing to and maintaining a design system.
  • Ability to mentor and guide others in motion design principles.
  • Familiarity with additional tools such as Principle, Framer, or GSAP (nice to have).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creativity and technical skills in motion design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
  • Keen eye for detail and understanding of enhancing user engagement through motion design.

Project Details

  • Duration: 5 months (targeting September start date)
  • Commitment: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Remote, you must work on Pacific Time.
  • Work Authorization: You must be based in and eligible to work in one of the following locations: US, and Canada.

$70 - $90 an hour

Portfolio Review & Phone Screen 

If your portfolio and work experience shows that your skills and experience have synergy with the role qualifications and responsibilities, then we will schedule an initial phone screen to learn more about you, discuss your availability, experience, and what you’re looking for in your next role. 

Portfolio Interview

If everything aligns on the Phone Screen, we schedule a second interview, our Portfolio Interview. On this call, we will ask you to walk through one of your case studies in order to evaluate your work, strategy, and execution.

Client Interview 

The next step would be to present our assessment of the talents candidacy to our clients. Should they decide to move forward, we will schedule interviews with the candidate and the hiring team to review their work, strategy, and execution.
