As the Senior Manager of Category Management, you will be responsible for leading, developing, planning, implementing, analyzing and executing global category sourcing and purchasing initiatives. What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Lead category and commercial strategy; ensure strategy incorporates GXO’s long-range plans and aligns with Procurement Governance Committee approvals
  • Develop and execute analysis supporting strategic and tactical category plans
  • Lead the development of thorough master services contracts in accordance with regulatory and legal requirements
  • Develop RFQs and analyses for supplier selection; lead supplier negotiations for the enterprise on requirements, commercial terms and conditions
  • Build performance-based supplier relationships that lead to optimal pricing, quality improvements, process improvements and solutions delivery
  • Identify and resolve weaknesses in development plan in primary and secondary suppliers; conduct strategic supplier quarterly performance reviews using supplier scorecards to develop continuous improvement initiatives and actions
  • Develop reporting metrics and alignment with functional areas to ensure the cost savings and cost mitigation related to sourcing and supplier management activities; oversee the management of staff by reviewing, approving, and allocating work and work assignments; mentor team members on developing performance metrics, accountability and career plans

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 5 years of experience in global category management including negotiating multimillion-dollar contracts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to create complex formulas in Excel
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends; ability to travel 25% domestically and internationally

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Master’s degree
  • Ability to identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources and develop, recommend and implement solutions
  • Experience with e-sourcing platforms and auctions
  • Ability to develop insightful, value-added and actionable research with detailed explanations regarding drivers of those results; produce unambiguous, comprehensive and accurate interpretations
  • Solid aptitude for understanding and researching large amounts of data from multiple sources; perform complex research of data, processes, policies, procedures and/or systems
  • Ability to utilize a variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods to effectively adapt to new work structures, processes, or cultures
