Lime is hiring a Senior Manager, Policy to join our Government Relations team! In this role, you will report into the Head of Global Policy. You will help develop and articulate Lime’s positions on the policy and regulatory issues that most impact our business and the overall growth and use of micromobility, including the regulatory frameworks that directly govern micromobility programs and more macro-level issues like cycling infrastructure, road safety, parking, equitable access to transportation, and building codes. 

You will work with Government Relations teams around the world to adapt our global positions to local markets, empowering local teams with tools and tactics to advocate for Lime’s policy positions. You will also guide the creation of external- facing materials (such as articles, white papers and reports) that elevate Lime as the industry thought leader, in partnership with our product teams, Brand & Communications, Trust & Safety, and Policy Research. 

While a law degree is not required, experience analyzing and interpreting complex rules, government documents and regulations is critical. You should also enjoy doing research and interpreting data, in partnership with our technical data analytics team members. A love of writing is a must, with a talent for communicating often complex and technical arguments simply. 

Finally, policy issues at the intersection of the built environment and electrified transportation are growing rapidly and will be a focus of this role. Therefore, we are prioritizing candidates with a background that includes experience with building and/or fire codes and engagement with codes and standards development processes (e.g. ICC, ASTM, NIST, IEEE, etc.).  

This is a Canada based remote position with a preference for the East Coast.

What you'll do:

  • Manage the development of legislative and regulatory proposals, policy positions, strategy, and best practices regarding the application of building codes and product standards to micromobility, including vehicles, batteries, and facilities.  
  • Manage cross-functional working group, securing internal alignment around policy positions and approach and manage implementation. 
  • Identify best practices for regulations and compliance.
  • Ensure we are tracking government and other stakeholder actions. 
  • Participate in building code and product standards development processes.
  • Coordinate strategy with internal partners, consultants, and external stakeholders to build coalitions, gain alignment in support of our preferred policy positions and ensure engagement. 
  • Develop content to use with internal teams and external stakeholders (including media, the general public, regulators, and lawmakers).
  • Support local government relations and communications teams with original research, analysis, and content development.
  • Identify, analyze, and report legislative and regulatory issues potentially impacting Lime’s business (particularly micromobility vehicles, parking, infrastructure, road safety, equitable transportation, batteries, and charging) and recommend courses of action. 
  • Conduct research on trends, topics or technologies (particularly city planning, micromobility vehicles, parking, infrastructure, road safety, equitable transportation, batteries, and charging).
  • Develop and oversee the production of high quality written content (talking points, recommendations, briefings, publications, presentations, blog posts, etc.) that clearly communicate complex messages to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Work with local government relations and communications teams to ensure content is effectively deployed internally and externally, including before key government bodies, industry, the media, and the public.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to build coalitions, ensure consistent messaging and share content.
  • Attend industry events, hearings, meetings, etc. to advocate for Lime’s policy positions.

About you:

  • 6+ years of relevant work experience with demonstrated familiarity in building codes and product standards regulatory policy landscape, including major legislative and regulatory trends around electric vehicles and batteries
  • Experience analyzing and drafting laws and regulations and recommending legislative/policy changes.
  • Ability to translate legal jargon, technical details, data and analysis into easy-to-understand content for a variety of audiences, especially government bodies, industry, the media, and the public. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage coalitions to advocate for common policy goals.  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (a writing exercise will be required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, government relations, law, or similar relevant field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Legal or lobbying experience 
  • Project management experience with proven success meeting deadlines and the ability of adapt to shifting priorities
  • Enthusiasm for creating and implementing SOPs and systems to scale work

The anticipated salary range for this position is CA$102,000 - CA$165,000. Equity and benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, depending on the position offered. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the candidate’s location of residence, the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications. In addition to base salary, some roles may be eligible for a variable bonus based on a combination of company performance, employee performance, and management discretion.
