As a Senior Middleware Administrator, you will join an established team of strong, teamwork-oriented professionals who believe in learning and growing together to serve the business. You will maintain the production and development application servers that support Credit Acceptance systems. You will partner with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and implement features and code. You will also monitor and tune systems and processes to achieve optimal application performance, stability, and security.

Outcomes and Activities:

Middleware Administration

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required.  However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member
  • Architects, builds, and maintains all aspects of enterprise midtier systems.
  • Supports more junior staff, peers, and customers in the development of their skills.
  • Leads coordination with cross-functional application teams to define, estimate, and implement requirements for new system development.
  • Implements and updates midtier systems and application packages in all environments.
  • Defines and adheres to standards, procedures, and methodologies for effective operation, performance, security, and recovery of all enterprise midtier systems.
  • Leads remediation efforts for midtier and application outages or issues in all environments, including efforts to minimize or prevent future issues.
  • Execute continuous capacity monitoring to provide forward-looking recommendations.
  • Develops, tests, executes, and acts as team lead for backup and Disaster Recovery procedures.
  • Develops and maintains documentation related to midtier systems and projects.

Other

  • Participates in 24/7 on-call rotation schedule.

  • Solution Design: Ability to translate high level requirements to create and implement designs that meet the needs of the customer, are technically sound, maintainable, and cost effective. Ability to identify missing or ambiguous requirements. Ability to design at both high and low levels of abstraction, understand complex requirements and translate into understandable solutions. Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.
  • Technical Domain: Have an understanding of the technical domain, including the application architecture, design and data of the application they support and systems to which it interfaces.
  • Testing Techniques: Understand the range of testing techniques available well enough to select the most effective test procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with middleware administration
  • Strong experience with application performance tuning, high-availability, backups, and recovery

Preferred Experience:

  • 7 years of application server experience, preferably Oracle WebLogic and Tomcat.
  • 1 year experience working with Kubernetes, docker, or other container-based technologies
  • Strong knowledge with UNIX/Linux environments and commands
  • Knowledge in writing and maintaining shell scripts
  • Strong knowledge of application development concepts and practices
  • Experience administering messaging systems, such as Apache Active Message Queuing (AMQ)
  • Experience with application performance management & monitoring tools, such as Dynatrace
  • Experience using Ansible to automate repetitive work
  • Experience with application lifecycle automation tools such as Jenkins, Maven, and XLDeploy

Targeted Total Compensation: $145,125 - $216,938. Total compensation is comprised of a competitive base salary and an annual variable compensation package.
