👩💻 The Role
Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote and you can work from home. Forever. To create the best experience for our new hire, this role requires that you be based within -5 / +5.5 UTC.
The People Experience we create is critical to Oyster's success. It inspires and motivates employees, drives Oyster towards its goals, fosters a positive culture, and ensures ethical and responsible operations. A strong people experience is essential for Oyster’s success across a diverse and complex landscape.
As a People Experience team, we develop the products and services that create a seamless employee journey - products that ‘just work well’ for both the People team and the employees, finding the ideal intersection of operational efficiency and employee experience. Our products and services are ubiquitous and easy to engage with and support every stage of the employee journey from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between including compensation, rewards and performance programs.
As a Senior People Programs and Operations Specialist, your deep technical knowledge and build capability will ensure you have a meaningful impact on the operational solutions and programs we develop in support of our business objectives. Your responsibilities will include automating and enhancing our People Operations workflows, capturing and analyzing People data, supporting our international employees, and collaborating on strategic people projects. Additionally, you will champion best practices and collaborate with the wider People team to refine the employee experience.
This role will report to the Senior Manager of People, Programs and Operations as part of our People Experience (Px) team, within the broader People function.
What you'll do…
- Collaborate with the broader People team and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver People Experience initiatives that align business strategy and goals.
- Partner with the People team to refine the full employee experience and build supporting processes.
- Build the exciting People Operations products we develop to ensure they are built with purpose, utility and customer experience in mind.
- Automate and improve People workflows throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, compensation and reward, and performance management.
- Lead Hibob optimization, and the subsequent change management.
- Identify areas for improvement in existing People programs and operations and propose and deliver new initiatives to address gaps and ensure our programs scale and grow with our business.
- Act as an escalation point for complex, global queries from Oyster employees and in support of our People Operations services
- Champion a culture and practices that make sure our people databases are impeccably up to date so that you can build and run reports that enable you to provide insights into making Oyster a continuously better place to work!
- Capture and analyze People data to define key metrics and build people dashboards which allow us tell a story.
- Write clear and succinct articles for our knowledge base, and to help our employees navigate our exciting programs and initiatives.
- Support junior team members in championing People Operations best practices.
What we're looking for
- Strong experience working within a highly collaborative and cross-functional People Operations or People Experience role.
- Proven capability and the enthusiasm and willingness to mentor and support others in their journey to being a People Ops pro.
- Experience working as a HiBob (or a similar HRIS) Admin with a focus on continuous improvement, optimisation and automation of processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build cross-functional relationships
- While we have an incredible team of employment lawyers and other specialists supporting us on the more technical stuff, someone with exposure & experience to broad HR principles and practices - ideally on a global level will be most successful in this role.
- Naturally, you will have the ability to handle sensitive information independently and an awareness of the criticality of data privacy.
- We’re big fans of backing our thoughts and ideas with data, so you should bring with you an ability to capture, analyze and interpret data to inform decision-making or show how the thing we’re doing is or isn’t working so we can celebrate, or of course correct (and then celebrate).
- We’re remote and asynchronous, so with that comes the supreme individual responsibility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and maintain your initiative around the work you are responsible for - we’ve got a lot of great resources to help here, but it’s an important cornerstone to come with, too.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team - as generic as this sounds, it’s really not. A lot of work you will be doing will tie in with our team's sprint process and be reliant on others who know that part better than you do (teamwork!). Conversely, there is stuff that you will pretty much own in isolation. Being able to switch between the two approaches is going to be important in delivering success in this role.
- Strong Project Management skills with the ability to define, craft and deliver pieces of work in an agile environment.
- [BONUS] Experience working with project management, documentation and collaboration tools such as Asana, Notion, Loom and Miro.
- [BONUS] French-speaking
- [BONUS] Working within a globally distributed company
You'll also need...
- A reliable home internet connection (or be able to get one)
- Fluent English language skills
