The Role
AssemblyAI is growing quickly, and we’re searching for a driven and dedicated Senior Platform Engineer to work on our multi-functional team. With significant investment and strong leadership to fuel our growth, it’s the perfect time to join the AssemblyAI team.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Ensure AssemblyAI’s Cloud Infrastructure Serves Our Team’s Critical Goals. Your primary focus will ensure our cloud infrastructure serves our critical team goals such as security, reliability, scalability, performance, and profitability.
- Help Lead AssemblyAI’s Infrastructure Efforts. As part of the team, you will help lead AssemblyAI’s efforts to architect, design, implement and test new infrastructure for our internal developer platform which will help our team ship and support high-quality software quickly and reliably.
- Enable Internal Teams to Achieve Key Business Initiatives. You will work closely with software engineers, customer support, go-to-market, and product managers to provide support and expertise for key initiatives. You will serve as a subject matter expert to internal teams to ensure that the deployment, management, and introspection tooling for our infrastructure is automated, secure, and appropriately abstracted so it’s easy for our developers to use and maintain.
The Team
You’ll be joining the Platform Engineering team whose mission is to provide an internal developer platform that abstracts cloud complexities and provides a common interface regardless of underlying hosting vendor. This platform provides the raw building blocks to construct deployable software in a secure, compliant, and reliable manner.
Required Experience
- 5+ years experience setting up, maintaining, and monitoring production infrastructure in a DevOps (or similar) role with a focus on optimizing infrastructure for cost efficiency and right-sizing
- 4+ years experience with AWS and/or GCP (general knowledge, monitoring, security/compliance)
- 2+ years experience setting up, managing, and scaling multi-region and/or multi-cloud Kubernetes clusters
- Strong experience architecting, building, and orchestrating networking to enable hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, and on-premise infrastructure
- Proven experience using Terraform for managing and provisioning infrastructure resources in an automated and programmatic manner
- Experience working with telemetry tools (Datadog, Prometheus, others)
- Multi-environment infrastructure management including enabling individual development and promoting through staging, canary and production
- Proficiency in deploying, managing, optimizing, and securing cloud datastores including best practices for software interaction
Nice to Have
- Experience building and managing internal developer platforms
- Programming experience with Go, Python
- A solid understanding of CI/CD workflows and observability patterns

US Salary Range: $150,000 - $220,000 USD per year
