Senior Product Designer
Description
Remote within Australia, or in-office in Melbourne
Atticus is seeking an exceptional senior product designer to join our small, high-trust team and lead the charge on all things design. We build premium tools that empower people working in regulated environments to do their job better—but it’s not enough that our software ‘works’, it also needs to be a delight to use. If you care deeply about designing beautiful products that elegantly solve problems for your users, and are ready for a role which gives you the freedom to spread your design wings, read on!
About us
Atticus is a Melbourne-based scale-up founded in 2017 and specialising in document review. Our flagship product is trusted and loved by the world’s largest law firms and listed companies, who use Atticus to fact check critical documents before public disclosure. We are high growth—our ARR has at least doubled every year, with 70% of new customers being inbound or referrals. We also want Atticus to be the best place you’ve ever worked; we’re fully remote-friendly, fully bootstrapped, and we believe in giving our people high-level goals and a tonne of autonomy.
Some of the most significant challenges we’ve faced have been design/UX problems rather than technical ones. This is increasingly the case as we take on more ambitious features and begin to accommodate workflows that are adjacent to core document review. We’re seeking an individual who can design elegant solutions to complex workflows, without sacrificing the simplicity and ease of use our product is known for.
About the role
This person will report directly to the technical co-founders, and will spearhead design at Atticus. Responsibilities include:
- design research: overseeing/conducting user testing, surveys, and other methods of gathering user feedback to inform design decisions.
- end-to-end product design: leading the creation and refinement of interfaces and user experiences, ensuring our product remains simple, intuitive and loveable while solving our users’ problems.
- product vision: supporting the technical co-founders in developing where our product(s) will be in the future, and how we get there.
- innovation: experimenting with new design technologies and approaches to keep things fresh. Keeping up with the latest design trends and tools, and incorporating these into our design strategy (we’re currently using Figma, Miro and Dovetail).
- internal advocacy: being our internal champion, promoting good design practices, and advocating for the importance of good design.
About you
We believe that exceptional people often have very different-looking CVs, so we try to steer away from hard prerequisites. At a minimum, the right person for this role will:
- be a number of years into their design career
- have a portfolio of work which demonstrates an ability to design non-trivial user experiences and beautiful interfaces
- be obsessed with good design
- have a keen eye for aesthetics
- have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- be an intentional communicator
- have the ability and desire to mentor junior designers.
Benefits
- $140,000-170,000 (dependent on ability and experience)
- 100% remote friendly within Australia
- High autonomy workplace (we hire people we can trust and get out of their way)
- Flexible work hours (we care about outcomes—go for that swim at 2pm)
- New Macbook Pro and home office setup budget
- Five weeks leave each year
- Birthday leave
- 16 weeks paid parental leave for primary and secondary carers
- Awesome dog-friendly office in Collingwood, Melbourne
