Who You Are
As a Senior Product Designer, you are a seasoned creative problem solver with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Product Design role. You have a degree in a relevant field such as HCI, Human Factors, or equivalent work experience. You have a robust portfolio of past projects that showcase your expertise in visual and interaction design skills. You bring an innovative and fresh perspective to our already stellar team of practical design practitioners and doers. You are proficient in relevant design tools such as Figma, Adobe CS, and Sketch. You have extensive experience conducting user research and can skillfully determine the most effective methods for different contexts. You will be a leader on our team of Product Designers, sharing your unique perspective and expertise to help us continue delivering exceptional user experiences.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Product Designer at Formstack, you will take on a leadership role, working with a cross-functional team of Designers, Products Managers, Product Marketers, Engineers, and more to discover and refine the why, what, how, and for whom of our products. You will provide direction and mentorship to junior designers on the team. You will use your expert knowledge of design fundamentals to take functions and features from idea to business case, to low-fidelity exploration, to high-fidelity prototypes.
How You'll Succeed
- Plan and lead meetings and work around assigned initiatives, understanding customer needs and wants, especially related to particular product features and functions
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs and business goals while translating them into sublime product experiences
- Design wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes
- Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions at every stage of the product development process
- Share your research, insights, and work in progress with your team and across the company
- Collaborate with other designers to maintain consistency across all product experiences
- Keep up to date with the latest design trends and technologies
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience
- Graduate degree or higher in a relevant field or similar work experience
- Extensive experience with User Experience design
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Expert knowledge of product design principles
- Ability to translate business and customer requirements into sublime product experiences
- Deep knowledge of design fundamentals, including:
- Visual design principles (color theory, typography, composition)
- Interaction design principles (user flows, affordances, feedback)
- Information architecture and design (organizing and structuring information)
- User research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing)
- Prototyping techniques and tools (low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups)
- Practical experience with accessibility guidelines and best practices
- Knowledge of web and mobile design standards and technologies (responsive design, CSS, HTML, JavaScript)
- Experience with designing, running, and analyzing usability tests and design experiments
- Experience designing for mobile apps (iOS, Android, Windows, etc.) and the mobile web
- Familiarity with the React.js and React Native frameworks
Bonus Points
- Experience working with large-scale, complex design systems
- Knowledge of front-end development and ability to work with devtools
- Familiarity with data visualization and dashboard design
- Experience leading design sprints and facilitating workshops with cross-functional teams
- Strong leadership skills and experience mentoring junior designers
- Experience working with international or multilingual products and users
- Expertise in one or more specialized areas, such as motion design, illustration, or 3D modeling
- Experience with emerging technologies, such as AR/VR, AI, or machine learning, and their potential impact on product design
- Proven track record of designing successful products that have achieved business objectives and meet user needs
- Involvement in the design community through speaking engagements, writing, or other thought leadership activities
- Salary Range: $110,000 - $150,000 USD/year
- Plus a potential annual bonus of up to 5% of the salary.
- This is a target starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and projected impact.
