About the Role

Volt is hiring for a Senior Product Designer to join our rapidly growing product team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in driving our mission forward, championing the voice of the customer to shape user experiences, influence product growth metrics, and execute our product strategy. This is a unique opportunity to help build our product and design culture from the ground up. As a Senior Product Designer, you'll go beyond traditional design responsibilities, acting as a strategic partner, a passionate user advocate, and a visionary design leader. You'll play a key role in establishing design processes, contributing to product strategy, and laying the groundwork for the future of our design team.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with product management and engineering to define and execute our product strategy.
  • Conduct comprehensive user research to uncover valuable insights, transforming these findings into practical design solutions.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and establish a cohesive design language that ensures consistency across all products.
  • Champion a user-focused culture throughout the organization, embedding design excellence into every aspect of our processes and decision-making.
  • Lead the end-to-end design process for our products, from user research and ideation to final implementation.
  • Develop and maintain our design system to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Act as a mentor by guiding and empowering junior designers, promoting their professional growth, and encouraging collaboration to elevate the impact of the entire design team.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, conducting user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions and ensure solutions address real user needs.
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design solutions with business
  • objectives and product strategy.
  • Establish and advocate for best practices in design processes, tools, and methodologies to elevate the overall quality of the product experience.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps by identifying opportunities for innovation and improvements, ensuring designs drive measurable product growth.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent design system and style guide that enhances usability and strengthens brand identity.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software product design experience, preferably in a high-growth SaaS startup environment.
  • Strong generalist skills across UX research, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to tie design decisions to business goals and contribute to long-term product strategy.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication and storytelling skills to articulate the value of design and establish a user-centered design culture.
  • Experience conducting user research and testing for mid-market and enterprise SaaS users.
  • Demonstrated ability to build from the ground up and work independently, establishing design processes and frameworks while mentoring and guiding future team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing design culture.
  • Passion for experimentation and data-driven design, balanced with attention to detail.

The compensation for this role is a base salary range of $100-130K plus 5% Annual Bonus. Volt provides employees with health, dental, vision, and life insurance at no extra cost. Equity in the form of stock options offered to all employees.
