Position Summary

The Sr. Product Manager, Commercialization role is new within the product management team and is responsible for ensuring that services are costed, packaged, and launched in the CPQ catalog to ensure quoting of solutions are simple and efficient. This role is cross-functional and will assume the responsibility of the product catalog and lifecycle management of existing service items. The ideal candidate will interface with product managers and other stakeholders such as product engineering and operations to ensure that products and services are commercialized for managed mainframe and IBM i product offerings. This position will oversee the product commercialization responsibilities that include costing, pricing, analytics and must have a strong background in CPQ systems and SFDC and will work closely with product managers, Ensono Investment, and Business Express teams.

The position requires expert knowledge in product packaging and commercialization and will partner with product managers, operations and will have lifecycle oversight for continuous product catalog improvements. Moreover, this role requires extensive business and technical analytical expertise, and will manage projects, identifying future opportunities, improving processes, and will provide pricing and performance analytical analysis.

The position reports to Sr. Director, Product Management for Mainframe & Power

Key Areas of Focus for this Role

  • Working with the product managers and CPQ team, define, improve, and automate quote to cash processes for the mainframe and IBM i products and services.
  • Builds commercialization plans and roadmaps to optimize product catalog.
  • Will have the responsibility to transform product catalog from spreadsheets to CPQ platform.
  • Identify and develop SKUs as needed for client specific solutions, assist deal desk and billing teams when SKUs need to be identified to ensure clients can be billed accordingly.
  • Drive continuous business process improvement for managing mainframe and power product line SKU catalog, ensuring that all cost and pricing are completed and quotable.
  • Partnering with Product Managers and business operations, own the commercialization methodologies for cost of goods sold, consumption pricing, and work with business operations to ensure that all services are being monitored, measured, and reported accurately.
  • The ideal candidate must have proven experience in business and technical process analysis and demonstrable problem-solving skills.
  • Provide data driven recommendations for pricing discount policies; Collaborate with Business Express and Finance teams to define product financial KPIs.
  • The ideal candidate will have proven ability to multi-task several projects, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years’ experience in product management, or commercialization role.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience working for a Managed IT Service, Hybrid Cloud, and/or Hosting Provider. Mainframe or IBM i Power Cloud experience is a plus.
  • Experience in building plans to take existing products and grow customer adoption, sales by identifying new business or customer opportunities.
  • Services Provider product management experience.
  • Proficiency in enterprise CPQ, and quote to cash systems (e.g., SFDC).
  • Expert Excel skills and must have the ability to solve complex problems, synthesize and communicate large data sets.
  • Deep understanding of commercializing services for the cloud and managed services industry.
  • Analytical, solutions-oriented skillset.
  • Comfort in both strategic and hands-on tactical execution.
  • Ability to translate technical, complex requirements into simple, actionable terms, and to commercialize offers for customer consumption.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environment with flawless execution, working collaboratively with cross-functional, cross-cultural teams.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business or economics or equivalent experience.

  • Strong understanding of IT operations and service management.
  • Program Management in a business or technical capacity.
  • P&L experience.
