About Upstart

Upstart is a leading AI lending marketplace partnering with banks and credit unions to expand access to affordable credit. By leveraging Upstart's AI marketplace, Upstart-powered banks and credit unions can have higher approval rates and lower loss rates across races, ages, and genders, while simultaneously delivering the exceptional digital-first lending experience their customers demand. More than two-thirds of Upstart loans are approved instantly and are fully automated.

Upstart is a digital-first company, which means that most Upstarters live and work anywhere in the United States. However, we also have offices in San Mateo, California; Columbus, Ohio; and Austin, Texas.

Most Upstarters join us because they connect with our mission of enabling access to effortless credit based on true risk. If you are energized by the impact you can make at Upstart, we’d love to hear from you!

The Team

Upstart helps to originate more than $1BN in loans every quarter, but less than 5% of those loans are with Upstart’s own money. The other 95% come from Credit Unions, Banks, and Investors who entrust us with making sure they meet the regulatory requirements of any lender, their customers have a great experience, and of course that their loans perform. Upstart’s Servicing team makes this a reality through effortless, delightful experiences and precise, ML-driven decision making.

As the PM for Upstart Servicing’s Lending Platform, you will showcase the best parts of our system to our hundreds of lending partners. You’ll build the systems that give them confidence in our legal-regulatory precision, drive transparency in how we’re engaging their borrowers, and balance the unique needs of each lender with our desire to build a highly scaled and repeatable b2b business.

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones.

The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Write detailed requirements, manage agile processes, and drive roadmap consensus on the entirety of our repayment surface area.
  • Understand our b2b users deeply in collaboration with design, doing research and experimenting when necessary to create a robust mental model.
  • Evolve and mature the integration of our systems and our lenders’ systems to achieve best-in-class partnership.
  • Balance customer needs and business outcomes to help shape servicing into a juggernaut line of business for Upstart.

  • Rigorous and analytical problem solving; well structured, concise, and highly effective communication.
  • Ownership and growth mindset. You act like an owner. You’re often right, but humble and open minded about being wrong. You’re perpetually dissatisfied and striving to improve yourself and the team.
