Role & Responsibilities

The Senior Developer role is critical in helping our clients grow their brands and achieve their business goals. They are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our Shopify-based ecommerce websites to ensure an optimal user experience, functionality, and performance. This role requires a deep understanding of Shopify's platform, customization capabilities, and best practices in ecommerce website development.

  • Custom Web Development:
  1. Develop, and customize Shopify-based ecommerce websites according to project requirements and brand guidelines.
  2. Implement custom themes, templates, and layouts to enhance user experience and align with branding strategies.
  3. Integrate third-party applications, plugins, and APIs to extend website functionality and meet business objectives.
  4. Collaborate with designers, architects and stakeholders to translate design mockups and wireframes into fully functional Shopify websites.
  • Shopify Configuration and Setup:
  1. Configure Shopify settings, including shipping, payment gateways, taxes, and checkout process, to ensure compliance with business requirements and industry standards.
  2. Set up product catalogs, collections, variants, and inventory management systems to optimize product visibility and sales conversion.
  3. Implement SEO best practices, meta tags, and structured data markup to improve website visibility and search engine rankings.
  • HTML Email Development:
  1. Develop HTML email templates and campaigns optimized for various email clients and devices, adhering to best practices and industry standards.
  2. Ensure compatibility with popular email marketing platforms (e.g.,, Klaviyo) and implement responsive design techniques to enhance readability and engagement across different screen sizes.
  3. Test and troubleshoot email templates for rendering issues, spam filters, and deliverability to maximize open rates and click-through rates.
  • Performance Optimization
  1. Conduct website performance audits and optimization tasks to enhance loading speed, responsiveness, and overall user experience.
  2. Monitor website performance metrics, such as page load times, bounce rates, and conversion rates, and implement strategies to improve performance.
  3. Optimize website code, images, and scripts to minimize loading times and improve site accessibility across devices and browsers.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing
  1. Conduct thorough testing of website features, functionalities, and integrations to identify and resolve any issues or bugs.
  2. Perform cross-browser and cross-device compatibility testing to ensure website usability and consistency across different platforms and screen sizes.
  3. Collaborate with QA testers and stakeholders to implement feedback and ensure website quality meets industry standards.
  • Collaboration and Version Control
  1. Collaborate effectively with other developers, designers, and stakeholders on complex projects, sharing insights and knowledge to deliver high-quality solutions.
  2. Utilize version control systems, such as Git and GitHub, to track changes, manage code repositories, and coordinate team collaboration, ensuring seamless integration and versioning control across multiple development environments.
  • Compliance:
  1. Ensure website compliance with relevant regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and PCI DSS, by implementing necessary features and protocols.
  • Task Management: They work with managers to coordinate the execution of tasks in alignment with overarching organizational goals and strategies. That includes: 
  1. Task Prioritization: They need to prioritize tasks based on project deadlines, dependencies, and importance. 
  2. Time Management: They are responsible for managing their time effectively to meet project milestones and deadlines. 
  3. Risk Management: Identifying potential risks associated with task execution and developing strategies to mitigate them. 
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitating collaboration between different teams and departments involved in task execution to ensure alignment with broader organizational strategies.
  5. Communication: They must maintain clear and open communication with all team members.
  6. Quality Assurance: They are responsible for ensuring the quality of their work by conducting thorough reviews and evaluations
  • Education: They will implement best practices & stay up to date with ecommerce and department related trends/tactics.
  • Hiring: They are responsible for interviewing, onboarding and training any new Strategists that join their team. They may review applicants, create skills tests and report any onboarding improvements/requirements to HR for execution. 
  • Mentorship: They may have a team that they are responsible for. They will provide mentorship and build camaraderie within their team. 
  1. Coordinate 1-1 Check-Ins
  2. Lead Performance Reviews
  • Department Optimization: They will identify, strategize & document improvements that can be made to the processes, services and deliverables that their team is responsible for. They will also ensure all updates are reported in the Change Management Log and properly implemented and communicated to the team.
  • Training & Development: Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs and career development initiatives, identify training needs, and collaborate with subject matter experts to provide employees with the resources and support needed to achieve their full potential.
