In this role, you can work with the latest versions of React and Node.js, Ruby, and public cloud environments such as AWS and run professionally-led scrum teams. Together, we will tackle the immense challenge of processing a staggering 4 billion pages to deliver impactful results! Moreover, you will be free to influence and champion best practices across functional areas, continuous integration, automation, and coding standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow a team of full-stack engineers, architects, and managers drawing from the best practices.
  • Thrive in our supportive management structure, where minimal politics exist and delegation and autonomy are highly valued.
  • Build upon your experience as an engineering leader, take ownership of a critical area of our open-source software stack, Elastic & Open Search stack, ELK stack, backend platform services, scalable developer API platform, and API integrations, and have the authority to set the architectural direction.
  • You will impact spokeo.com, a platform that serves millions of visitors, as we adhere to a bi-weekly release cycle and move towards continuous deployment.
  • Help shape our development process, elevate code quality, and contribute to the ongoing success of our large-scale e-commerce and big data environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field that showcases proficiency in software development.
  • At least five (5) years managing web and backend application development teams, including senior engineers and junior managers that have successfully delivered consumer SaaS or cloud-based products.
  • Proven track record in guiding scrum-based teams, handling large datasets, and delivering scalable products. Previous roles, such as scrum master or technical lead, emphasized expertise in agile methodologies and team management.
  • At least eight (8) years of full-stack development experience, with proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/React, Node.js, MVC/Rails, MySQL, NoSQL, and RESTful APIs.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with public cloud service providers (e.g., AWS) and delivering highly performant and resilient services.
  • Strong command of software engineering principles and practices demonstrated through an extensive technical background.
  • Deep passion for building collaborative teams and delivering high-quality software, as evidenced by past accomplishments and contributions.
  • A team-first leadership style that fosters a supportive and inclusive work environment, empowering team members to reach their full potential.
  • Experience managing and developing highly talented engineers and technical leads.
  • Your extensive technical background should demonstrate a strong command of software engineering principles and practices.
  • Your past accomplishments and contributions show a deep passion for building collaborative teams and delivering high-quality software.
