Senior Technical Writer

Beyond Identity is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join the product team as the sole product documentation person, and to define our approach and standard. In this role you will collaborate cross functionally to drive understanding of how customers can use and get the most value from the Beyond Identity platform.
Ideally, candidates will be located in the NYC or Seattle areas to facilitate in-person collaboration with our teams.
What You Can Expect to Do:
- Establish documentation process and principles across product teams
- Build and maintain our public-facing documentation site
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand complex product details
- Write quick-start guides for our target personas of workforce users, system administrators, and developers to simplify onboarding
- Collaborate with support engineers to design our public-facing knowledge base; author and review articles
- Publish weekly release notes with information on product updates, releases and fixes from our product managers
- Learn and test the product, API, and its documentation for accuracy and consistency
- Contribute to feature-naming work; ensure terminology is clear and tone is conversational and professional
- Develop and implement a style guide that optimizes usability/readability, context sensitivity, maintainability and SEO
- Work with engineering and support to provide effective error messages following API status codes to facilitate customers’ help desks and our technical support team
- Collaborate with engineering to create code samples to accelerate the integration process for customers
What we Hope You’ll Bring:
- 5+ years of B2B software product documentation experience
- Proficient in HTML and Markdown and/or familiarity with different tooling options like Readme or Docusaurus for documentation
- Excellent written communications skills for technical audiences
- Comfortable explaining complex concepts in layman's terms
- Deep understanding and experience with task-based and progressive disclosure documentation principles
- Excellent grasp of document formatting and graphics handling of images, videos, graphs, and tables.
- Advocate for Agile development methodologies
- Experience at and thrive in a startup or early-stage environment
- Team player who is self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Detail oriented
- Bonus: Experience writing for identity access management and/or security-focused technical products
- Bonus: Experience writing for PLG SaaS companies
