Job Description

The Commerce team is committed to bringing financial freedom to all our customers. Our team is at the core of Cash App’s mission—redefining the world’s relationship with money. We’re making Cash App and Afterpay the most loved way to pay for buyers and sellers by designing commerce and payment services that are more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.

As a senior member of our technical writing team, you will own and maintain the end-to-end developer documentation lifecycle for our external partners including:

  • Project managing developer documentation initiatives from concept to launch, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Marketing, Sales Engineering, Product, & Legal) to define documentation requirements, sequence project milestones, and coordinate launch timelines.
  • Writing clear, comprehensive guides for new features/products, as well as maintaining our existing documentation.
  • Drive content strategy by becoming familiar with our products and onboarding experiences through Sales Engineering & Product.
  • Establish team processes around documenting new products and features.

Qualifications

You have:

  • ~8 years of experience writing, editing, and planning API-based product documentation.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex efforts simultaneously, such as the launch of new documentation resources, large-scale documentation audits, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent skills in documentation design and effective information architecture.
  • Experience producing documentation for modern software products that involve API integrations.
  • Experience publishing content with static site generators and managing docs as code.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting other team members through project management and task prioritization.
  • Mastery of Markdown.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment where self-learning and self-service is encouraged and instilled as a part of our culture.

Even better:

  • Comfortable learning new mediums for creating content, such as flowchart generators and AI-based tools.
  • Conceptual familiarity with HTML, CSS, git, APIs, and/or Javascript libraries.
  • Familiarity with fintech or payments.
  • Distributed work; especially in collaboration with others across countries and time zones.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $148,700 - USD $223,100

Zone B: USD $141,300 - USD $211,900

Zone C: USD $133,800 - USD $200,800

Zone D: USD $126,400 - USD $189,600
