Senior VFX Artist

We are seeking an experienced Senior VFX Artist to help create a dynamic and beautifully stylized look for an exciting new video game world. Our game will be an open-world, co-op experience filled with memorable characters and beautiful otherworldly environments. The Senior VFX Artist will create visually stunning effects that enhance the game’s characters, environments, props, and more. This role will report directly into the Game Art Director.

What you'll do:

  • Use Unreal to create stunning 2D and 3D visual effects that align with the artistic vision
  • Work with the Art Director and others to develop VFX that complement the game's art style, enhance the gameplay experience, and support the narrative
  • Communicate VFX strategies and goals, ensuring they integrate with the visual style of the game
  • Contribute to the design of game mechanics through innovative VFX solutions
  • Manage and optimize the VFX pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows and consistency across all visual effects
  • Review and approve VFX assets, ensuring they meet quality standards and fit within the game’s stylized aesthetic

You are a great fit if:

  • You have 5+ years of professional experience in VFX within the video game industry, backed by a portfolio showcasing your skills in creating high-quality visual effects
  • You have experience creating effects that enhance both artistic style and game functionality
  • You have excellent skills in visual design, particularly in stylization, lighting, and color theory
  • You have knowledge of both Unreal and Niagara with comfort in creating blueprints, custom material networks, shaders, sprite sheets, post-process fx, physics simulation, including cloth sim
  • You understand the rendering pipeline (forward and deferred), and how lighting systems and post processes work
  • You have knowledge of Houdini, Substance Designer and Maya

What we offer:

Annual salary range: $135,000-$185,000 USD
