The Setup Ops team is responsible for getting new customers to their first payroll run with Check’s partner businesses. This is one of our most critical jobs to accelerate partner growth, and we take our work seriously. For this role, we are seeking a setup project manager with payroll implementation expertise, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a high degree of ownership. 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage multiple setup projects (i.e. payroll implementations) simultaneously, across a variety of partner businesses and previous payroll systems.
  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of projects, holding a high-quality bar for yourself and your team.
  • Collaborate with your team and cross-functionally to create and improve processes, process documentation, and tooling.
  • Provide customer service via tickets, email, and phone/video directly to both partners building payroll businesses on Check and companies in the process of joining those partner platforms.
  • Drive operational efficiency, meeting SLAs to ensure seamless company onboarding.
  • Provide direct assistance to outsourcing teams and customers dealing with complex payroll scenarios identified during the setup process.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with outsourcing partners, overseeing setup projects to accurate, successful completion.

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have some or all of the following:

  • 3+ years of payroll implementation account management experience
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Comfortable with learning new technologies
  • Skillset in creative problem-solving and data interpretation through the application of payroll knowledge and mathematical concepts
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects to timely completion
  • Strong focus on partners and customers, with excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
  • Comfortable in highly cross-functional and geographically distributed environments, with a track record of collaborative work with Partner Success and R&D teams.
  • A friendly and helpful attitude in all interactions with teammates and customers
  • Experience working with outsourced teams
  • Willingness and ability to attend our annual 3-day company offsite in the fall

Travel and Office Policy

The Check team is distributed across the US and we have offices in New York City and San Francisco. While we welcome remote work, we believe time together in person is valuable and important. We offer ample opportunities and encourage employees to attend team offsites, events, and hackathons a couple of times a year! We expect all employees to be willing to attend our annual 3-day company offsite in the fall.  

For our in-office and hybrid employees, our offices are open all week. We provide meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the team hosts regular happy hours, game nights, etc. 

What we offer: 

In the US, Check offers company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term/long-term disability, and basic life insurance coverage to all full-time employees, effective on their first day of work. We also provide stock options, flexible PTO and sick leave, 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave for all new parents flexible return-to-work, 9 annual holidays, a 401k retirement plan, and a $100 monthly stipend for home internet and mobile phone expenses. Benefits may vary outside the US.

The expected annual salary for this role is between $87,000 and $114,500 depending upon each candidate’s unique experience and qualifications.
