Siliconera: Freelance Writer & Japanese Translator

Siliconera is the go-to place for international video game news, hands-on impressions, and interviews you won’t see anywhere else on the net. Currently, we're looking for freelance writers who who are bilingual in English and Japanese to expand our coverage of popular Japanese video games. This is a fully remote and freelance position.

Working with Siliconera means having the opportunity to write about a variety of video game topics. You will be watching game announcements, reading press releases, etc. that are in Japanese and writing about them in English for a broad audience. Our team is supportive, enthusiastic, and international. If you have deep knowledge of any specific video games please let us know in your cover letter!

Responsibilities:

  • Write a minimum of 40 articles per month (But you're welcome to write more!)
  • Follow trending topics and stay up-to-date on popular Japanese video games
  • Pitch new article topics

Requirements:

  • Fluency in both Japanese and English
  • Deep knowledge of popular Japanese video games and their communities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced digital environment

Rates: $11 to $60 per piece, depending on content type and length. (The average article for this position will be $11.)
