Job Summary:
As a Software Engineer, where you'll play a crucial role in the development and upkeep of an innovative application deployment system tailored for microservice-architecture applications, simplifying their deployment process on Kubernetes infrastructure. Your key responsibility will involve seamlessly onboarding business units onto this deployment platform, involving the transformation of their current applications, databases, and supporting services from traditional bare-metal/VM deployments to containerized solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with a small team of developers within an Agile framework, focusing on the application of 12-factor principles to existing applications and their subsequent deployment on Kubernetes.
- Navigate the diverse landscape of applications across various business units, assessing language diversity, code quality, test availability, and development activity levels to devise optimal containerization and migration strategies.
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate support for business units spanning different time zones, ensuring effective communication and planning across teams.
- Proactively identify opportunities for team enhancement and skill development amidst the complexity of the deployment ecosystem.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in at least two web programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Ruby, PHP, Go), ideally with exposure to application frameworks such as Laravel, Spring Boot, Rails, Django, etc.
- Strong proficiency in Linux environments, encompassing scripting and automation proficiency.
- Hands-on experience with Docker for application containerization.
- Proven track record in setting up, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes for orchestrating containerized applications.
- Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, balancing discussions on implementation nuances with a focus on results-driven outcomes to avoid "analysis paralysis."
