As the Principal Solutions Engineer in the Enterprise Engineering Services organization, you will play a key role in evolving our cloud and automation engineering practices, setting enterprise standards, developing cloud & automation engineering frameworks, and working across the enterprise to help segment engineering teams adopt industry best cloud solutions, while maximizing efficiency through the use of automation.

The Principal Cloud Solutions Engineer implements the organization's Cloud & automation engineering strategy from a technical perspective - including design, planning, integration, maintenance and support of our Cloud footprint and associated automation platform services. You will work with stakeholders across the organization to evaluate Cloud systems and identify appropriate solutions that rely on the power of automation to drive efficiencies, eliminate wasteful use of resources and drive adoption of our infrastructure and DevOps automation assets. You will collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to develop specifications for new Cloud-based products/services, automation capabilities, applications and solutions. You will be responsible for driving the roll-out of Cloud management platforms, automation frameworks; evaluate the performance of associated technology, improve efficiency of related processes; and where necessary recommend and drive the delivery of enhancements. As a part of your day-to-day job responsibilities, you will work closely with senior executives to develop and drive segment or enterprise-wide functional strategies as they relate to Cloud engineering, infrastructure and DevOps automation. As your settle into your role, you will play a key role as an advisor to segment engineering teams in one or more areas – including, but not limited to Cloud Platforms, Automation and DevOps tools & practices; provide recommendations to senior executives on matters of significance and will be expected to develop into an advanced subject matter expert competent to work at very high levels covering all aspects of Cloud, automation & DevOps engineering across the enterprise.

Some other notable responsibilities of this position are listed below

  • Assess the compatibility and integration of products/services in order to ensure an integrated design across interdependent technologies through collaboration with other business units and identify opportunities for automation. This may include the outlining of processes, creation of solution design, install applications relevant to automation, creation of proof of concepts, creation of engineering solutions and designing and executing testing to validate solution
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and work under minimal supervision, use independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors in determining the best course of action
  • Provide guidance and engage on migration of application components from on-premises to cloud; improve our segment tenant cloud onboarding experience
  • In general, candidate must have an "Automation First” mindset viz. fundamentally will not accept doing things over and over by hand. Responsible for evaluating and implementing orchestration, automation, and tooling solutions to ensure consistent processes and repetitive tasks are performed with the highest level of accuracy where cloud computing is concerned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, or related field. Relevant work-experience can substitute
  • 10 or more years of experience in IT & Engineering, with recent focus on cloud and automation engineering
  • Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools like Terraform & Ansible, or equivalent
  • Proficiency with shell scripting
  • Proficiency with Git
  • CI/CD experience (GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins)
  • 2 or more years people leadership
  • 2 or more years of project leadership
  • 2 or more years of technical experience with cloud platforms
  • Experience integrating new technologies with existing technologies
  • Experience implementing technologies with enterprise-wide impact
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; confidently and professionally interacts with internal teams; external stakeholders and customers. Ability to inspire, influence and lead others without direct
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications
  • Experience automating and integrating multiple technologies to deliver end to end solutions (ServiceNow, Secrets Management, etc.)
  • Experience working in an Agile product methodology
  • Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, or equivalent

Work-At-Home Requirements

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested
  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership
  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.
