Influential, is looking for a Specialist, Social Trends Strategy to drive the planning and execution of our campaigns with a focus on delivering a best-in-class trend-based campaign strategy. This role is responsible for identifying social media trends and driving account growth opportunities while fostering innovation that delivers on our clients’ business goals. This role works directly with clients to define and distill their goals, create success metrics, and activate strategies in collaboration with their dedicated portfolio team. 

The right candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and highly collaborative working style; they will be a strong brand marketer and creative storyteller, with experience developing and executing impactful integrated campaigns that drive both brand awareness and direct customer response. Leading with consumer centric thinking and innovative brand building, this individual will be an expert in the digital space, and bring strength in team management, team development, cross functional collaboration, creative and strategic thinking, process development and execution.

This role will be responsible for real-time daily and predictive social media trend detection, primarily TikTok and secondarily Instagram, to find trends to connect brands with audiences and help them stay relevant in a dynamic social media landscape.

The Specialist, Social Trends Strategy will be responsible for detecting trends that are brand-safe, and partnering closely with Influential’s Creative team to find creative ways in for brands across different verticals (i.e. Fashion, Fast Food, Technology, Beauty, etc.). The Specialist, Social Trends Strategy will also partner with Influential’s Creator Partnerships team to ensure that the right influencers are being activated for the right trends. Similarly, this role will work closely with paid media teams to optimize targeting strategies for different trends as they are live and continue to go live during the campaign. 

The Specialist, Social Trends Strategy will determine best performing trends for key interest audiences by analyzing social post sentiment data as well as Brand Lift Study performance. The analysis will be shared by the Specialist, Social Trends Strategy to Influential’s Creative team, Influential’s Paid Media team, Influential’s Creator Partnerships team, and client. While campaigns are live, the Specialist, Social Trends Strategy will optimize trend detection, trend recommendation, generate creative best practices reports, and recommend audience targeting best practices, based on performance. 

In general, on a typical day you will:

  • Social media trend detection (real-time and predictive) on TikTok and Instagram using social listening and additional business tools
  • You will be a social marketing analytics artist who uses social media data to make a storyline shine with insightful and data-driven actionable trend-based insights and strategies for multiple clients 
  • Maintain strategy & audience understanding for brand and trends, to operationalize that strategy by ensuring the development team's efforts are aligned with the critical path of creating a successful product & business and are executed effectively and efficiently
  • Identify and advise towards trend activations that create competitive advantages and adapt to changing market dynamics (eg: competitive, legal, etc.)
  • Provide a sound business justification for investments in trend-based influencer marketing based on market trends, audience insights, past campaign data, and experience
  • Drive the strategic direction for accounts by working directly with client and accounts team focusing on audience targeting, creative, and media distribution 
  • Ensure account media plan, messaging and measurement approach aligns with the account strategy and client’s business goals
  • Present/pitch the strategic approach and associated media strategy to the client along with Revenue and Client Solutions with the goal of aligning the client’s KPIs to achieve successful business outcomes 
  • Work with the account team to interpret and present campaign data, providing recommended adjustments and optimizations leading to improved performance and account success
  • Develop a strategic roadmap for each account with buy-in from the Revenue lead, Client Solutions and execution leads that outlines short and long term strategies with tactical plans for driving business growth
  • Leads the campaign recap process by translating campaign data into actionable insights and future optimizations across audience targeting, creative, planning, and media 

Being a Social Trends Strategy Specialist requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years agency experience in media buying/planning, omni-channel marketing, or previous strategy roles 
  • Forward-thinking with a balance of strong analytical skills and creative thinking.
  • Experience constructing Boolean queries and using social listening tools (i.e. Netbase, Brandwatch, Infegy, etc.) to analyze mentions, sentiment, consumer cohorts, and trends
  • Experience with survey design and quantitative survey analysis (i.e. Brand Lift Studies, Qualtrics) for audience segmentation and insights
  • Skilled at analyzing digital marketing data and campaigns, identifying measurable results, and presenting strategic recommendations (i.e. content strategies, targeting strategies, trend strategies) and learnings to internal partners and clients
  • A highly collaborative team leader with a proven track record in effectively managing their own workload and proactively communicating with key stakeholders
  • Ability to set up efficient and effective processes and manage and meet deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive, positive attitude and strong work ethic, who enjoys a fast-paced environment. 
  • A customer-centric, analytical and ROI based approach to all decision making.
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging data and insights to inform business decisions and achieve broad buy-in of strategic initiatives.
  • Proven ability to successfully work with and guide senior-level clients and internal portfolio teams
  • Self-motivated and driven, enthusiastic about the digital space and multi-channel marketing
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate and apply strategic thinking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact professionally with external and internal clients
  • Knowledgeable of all major social platforms (i.e. TikTok and Instagram) 
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends and innovations in the social realm
  • Thrives within a dynamic and evolving environment, competent at generating process and structure where none exists

  • Experience at a marketing-tech, media start-up, or agency. 
  • You’re passionate about social media and/or influencer marketing

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $90,000

(dependent on candidate’s related work experience, subject matter expertise, and work location)
