Position Overview

The Senior Communications Specialist is a key member of OCHIN’s Corporate Communications and Marketing team supporting the development, management and evaluation of messages, content, and programs to deepen audience awareness and understanding of OCHIN’s mission, vision, goals, and capabilities. This role requires expertise in writing, editing, visual storytelling, content production, and project management. Depending on the corporate communications and marketing discipline, this role may also require specialized expertise in other core functions, such as: executive communications, media relations, editorial review, brand design, and workforce communications.

A systems thinker with a keen eye for detail, the Senior Communications Specialist can mobilize quickly to shepherd original written or visual content from idea to production and enjoys creating opportunities for content integration and optimization in service of broader organizational goals and priorities. This role provides both functional and strategic support to corporate communications and marketing colleagues and actively seeks to collaborate with others across the organization to advance projects that support OCHIN’s mission and embodies its values

Essential Duties


Storytelling and Content Creation: Draws on available data and insights to craft compelling messages, stories, scripts, and visual content that connect audiences to OCHIN’s mission, value, and capabilities. Adept at authoring original written, visual and dynamic content for traditional, digital, and social media.

Brand Management: In partnership with others, ensures that all corporate communications and marketing materials align to and reinforce OCHIN’s brand expression, voice, and strategic narrative.

Metrics and Performance: Incorporates methods of measurement to optimize the reach and relevancy of corporate communications and marketing materials. Seeks to optimize communications and marketing effectiveness to drive heightened audience awareness, understanding and engagement.

Teaming and Collaboration: Adept at partnering across teams to socialize new ideas and strategies, collaborate to build buy-in and strengthen outcomes and drive positive results.


CEO Eminence: Supports strategic development of CEO messaging platform and collaborates with Corporate Communications and Marketing managers to leverage CEO voice for driving awareness and distinction for OCHIN among public audiences, funding partners, Board members, network members, and staff.

Events and Speech Writing: Leads coordination of CEO public speaking events, including creation of slides, writing talking points, conducting prep sessions, and managing overall logistical coordination to ensure smooth in-person or on-line event appearances. May support other high priority executive leadership team speaking events as necessary.

Social Media Management and Editorial Planning: Manages CEO social media presence, including channel development, editorial calendar, content production, digital networking and engagement. Actively contributes to OCHIN’s broader editorial calendar, looking for messaging opportunities and synergies across audiences, and coordinates posting with Digital Marketing team.

Writing and Editing: Gains CEO trust and uses industry best-practices, including AP style and SEO, to craft high-quality content that translates CEO or other executive voices across diverse audiences and channels. Ensures these efforts reinforce OCHIN’s brand expression and strategic narrative, while maintaining individual authenticity.

Contributed Content and Media Relations: Contributes to the strategic use of CEO or other executive voices in integrated marketing and public relations campaigns through the production of ghost-authored articles, blog posts, op-eds, and press release quotes. May support CEO prep for media interviews or FAQs in collaboration with media relations lead.

Analytics and ReportingTracks metrics for performance and engagement and provides weekly, monthly, and quarterly analytics reports to guide strategy.

Executive Communications and Events SupportPartners with others across the Corporate Communications and Marketing team to support other executive communications and OCHIN events as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Seven years of experience in corporate and marketing communications, public and media relations, editorial strategy, or lead writer role
  • Experience in executive and organizational public relations management
  • Proven experience in delivering original content in short timeframes
  • Proven background managing multiple projects, schedules, and timelines. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to drive progress and achieve desired results
  • Ability to extract meaningful insights from data and translate findings into compelling stories, messages, and strategies
  • Background in public relations, journalism, or agency experience is desired

Base Pay Overview

The typical offer range for this role is minimum to midpoint, with the midpoint representing the average pay in a national market scope for this position. Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will consider a wide range of factors directly relevant to this position, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, responsibility, and experience, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
