About the Role:
Maxar has an opening for a Senior Director/Director, Business Development on the Strategic International Programs team. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and developing new business opportunities with federal government agencies in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Taiwan.
You will work closely with the Senior Vice President and Vice President of SIP to meet annual revenue and booking quotas, while developing and implementing the growth strategy set by leadership, key stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams. The role requires a team player and peer leader with a focus on increasing awareness and adoption of Maxar’s robust earth observation imagery solutions.
This role is an opportunity to drive growth and shape the future of advanced solutions with our critical federal and civil government customers across the globe. You will utilize your in-depth understanding of foreign government requirements to position Maxar’s suite of space-based technology solutions, Earth-imaging capabilities, and geospatial data and analytics, resulting in revenue and bookings growth.
Our first conversation with you will reveal your geo-political awareness of the target regions, and your gauge of next-steps to determining the most effective go-to-market strategies, while collaborating with Maxar’s program delivery, legal, marketing, product, contracts, and executive leadership teams along the way.
This role is a key member of the Business Development team. You will work closely with the SIP Sales and Account Management teams, as well as numerous shared Maxar teams (including Product, Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, Finance, and Operations).
Your success will be founded on your business relations background enabling you to drive engagement at an executive level. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the mission, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the growth strategy for the governments of multiple govt customers across the globe
- Leverage existing or establish relationships with senior U.S. Government personnel in the territory to include: U.S. defense attachés, U.S. DNI representatives, Office of Defense Cooperation representatives, and senior U.S. INDOPACOM representatives to expand the SIP footprint in the territory
- Leverage existing or establish relationships with key defense personnel at the foreign Embassies and Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S. to expand the SIP footprint in the territory
- Identify potential sales agents to assist in outreach efforts
- Research and assess government budgets and relevant capability requirements
- Identify areas for growth and create market positioning that drives adoption of products and services
- Assess competitive risk using financial, statistical, and economic data and identify manageable solutions for customers
- Closely monitor government procurements of defense and space systems to identify areas for collaboration and partnering
- Work with the Sales and Finance teams to accurately forecast, implement, and monitor a successful strategic go-to-market program
- Support Sales and Marketing teams in the development of product positioning, presentations, press releases, product workshops, training workshops, and customer visits
- Strengthen and progress deep business and technical relationships through your knowledge of the customer’s mission and the environment
- In the short term, leverage modern internal and external communication tools such as Zoom, Slack, and Salesforce, to onboard and achieve your customers’ success from your home office
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or political science required
- 8+ years of international defense or government work experience required
- 8+ years of experience in international business or U.S. Government relations
- Excellent cross-functional skills across customers, sales, strategy, marketing, product, legal, and operations
- Self-starter with demonstrated success working in a deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision
- Flexible with the ability to work independently and on teams
- Strong understanding of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process
- Ability to travel throughout the world as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong connections with the defense contractor community
- Experience and understanding of industrial participation (offset) programs
- Knowledge of the space and geospatial industries
Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
$165,000.00 - $275,000.00 annually.
