What you’ll be doing

The National Access Director will be responsible for National / Regional Accounts covering Commercial, Part D, PBMs, Medicaid, and VA/DoD segment. In addition, responsible for Community and Institutional access and reimbursement. It will be critical to drive coverage within targeted payer accounts and establish reimbursement confidence with provider accounts. The selected candidate will work cross-functionally with in-office and field-based teams in Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Data & Analytics to drive the success of our launch including providing expertise and valuable input in developing the overall strategy and successful execution of key initiatives and tactics. This role will establish effective business partnerships with national and regional payer accounts. It will be imperative for this role to ensure effective communication and collaboration functions/departments including, but not limited to, Distribution, Trade, Payer & Value Strategy, Pricing, Patient Services, Field Sales, Medical Affairs, and Marketing. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of the oral oncology market dynamics including key payers and provider accounts with biotech experience. This role reports to the Executive Director, National Field Market Access, Trade & Distribution and will be based remote in the U.S.

You will be responsible for…

  • Develop and execute access launch strategies within assigned National and Regional Payer accounts ensuring appropriate product coverage across all channels including Commercial, Part D, PBM, Medicaid, and VA/DoD.
  • This role will be responsible to develop, communicate, and implement Strategic Business Plans for assigned accounts and expand corporate relationships with key stakeholders and healthcare decision makers
  • Direct the development and execution of a national and regional customer engagement plan that is aligned with commercial launch strategies and tactics
  • Work in cross-functional efforts with in-office Market Value & Access teams, Marketing, Data & Analytics, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and U.S. Sales to develop strategy and tactical plans as well as account pull-through plans building a strong and credible Nuvation Bio presence in targeted accounts
  • Effectively collaborates strategic account field operations and initiatives with Medical Affairs, HEOR, patient access services, and Field U.S. Sales
  • Partner with the data and analytics team to maximize usage of data and reports that enable a higher level of customer / account service
  • Provides market insights, trends, competitive activity and conditions of the reimbursement environment.
  • Ensures customer expectations are exceeded; develops business plan that fits continually changing marketplace.
  • Ensures all activities are conducted with the highest degree of ethics and compliance

What Knowledge & Experience you'll bring to us...

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Biological Sciences, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 20+ years of progressive pharmaceutical experience with demonstrated success in product launches and building high-performance field account teams
  • Minimum 10 years leading strategic Market Access accounts – Payers, PBMs, VA/DoD, Medicaid, IDNs etc.
  • Minimum 10 years oncology experience, solid tumors and oral oncolytic experience required. Non-small cell lung cancer experience highly preferred
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills as well as the ability to interact and positively influence all levels of business across multiple departments
  • Demonstrated success working in a small to mid-size biotech company, reflecting an entrepreneurial culture and innovative mindset.
  • Demonstrated payer experience with deep relationships is preferred, PBM experience highly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain a high level of productivity, innovation, and priority-setting in order to deliver on organizational goals
  • Proven ability to think strategically and work with a high level of integrity
  • A highly effective collaborator who understands the importance of team collaboration with all company stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability think strategically, manage accounts effectively by objectively evaluating various opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize data and deliver a clear overview of field market access issues, challenges and successes
  • Establish and maintain strong clinical acumen to facilitate rapport with industry experts, medical community, and effectively coach/mentor the field account team

The pay range for this position is $240,000 to $270,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location among other factors. Our full-time regular positions also include an annual performance-based bonus and long-term incentive units (equity) provided as part of our compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
