How you’ll make an impact:
The Senior Engineer, Client and API Systems Integration will be responsible to drive embedded client and API development for the SiriusXM Automotive organization. You will collaborate closely with the client and API management team to understand the priority and requirements for your assigned features. In your role, you will work with both internal and external teams to ensure the functionality developed meets the product requirements. The Senior Engineer will also lead features through the development lifecycle from planning to release and post-production, including with multi-department teams to ensure successful on-time launch.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of being a lead contributor on embedded development teams - designing, implementing, and testing sophisticated software architectures and will have been directly responsible for architecting and developing software. This position requires a detail-oriented individual that is a self-starter who can work both independently and within a team environment.
What you’ll do:
- Direct, guide and motivate others towards successful launch of assigned projects
- Serve as responsible Technical Owner into Automotive Systems Integration team, with primary responsibility to ensure client and API components (and interactions thereof) are successfully deployed on-time with proper quality into Automotive Release Train.
- Work directly with client and API teams and developers to ensure that the entire development cycle is properly executed consistently. This includes participating in component design reviews, requirements and traceability, and component test plans and execution.
- Ensure team members are aware of integrated project timelines and provide timely updates that may have cross-functional impact
- Hands-on management of features throughout their lifecycle, from planning to release, including coordination with multi-department teams
- Collaborate closely with solution architect counterpart on implementation design and documentation
- Define and design architectural concepts that leverage re-use and emphasize scalability
- Serve as leader for and Joint Integration Test activities involving proving out Client and API components (and interactions thereof) in development environments.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering, software architecture, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of popular client/server protocols such as HTTPS, REST, MQTT, and similar. Experience with JSON and/or XML payloads and parsing as well.
- 2-3 years of experience working on software projects
- Automotive infotainment experience (streaming audio, broadcast audio, radio head units, CD Players, telematics systems, navigation systems, etc.) preferred. Domain experience with telecommunications, satellite, set top boxes also may apply. 1-2 years of experience working in a SAFe/Agile environment
- General knowledge of CICD practices
- Thorough knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience using JIRA
- Knowledge of AWS Architecture and component principles
- Experience using Visio
- Must thrive in a fast-paced and innovative environment where flexibility, resourcefulness, resiliency, and communication skills are key
- Previous experience driving development of software projects
- Experience working with Agile development teams
- Ability to drive technical requirement definition and solution design sessions, working closely with partners across the entire organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects
- Time management skills is a must, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Strong blend of project management and technical aptitude
- Broad-based understanding of the automotive industry, new technologies and industry trends
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $120,000 to $140,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
