Responsibilities

Summary:

Frontdoor has created its first customer facing mobile app and we are continuing to build out an internal team to add new features, eliminate tech debt, and add longevity to the code base. We are looking for passionate mobile engineer who has experience with delivering an iOS and Android product using React Native. We are obsessed with taking the hassle out of owning a home and being able to think like an end user as you develop new features will be key to the success of this role.

Our Software Engineers are product focused, giving them the opportunity to work on a product and understand the layers of the software stack. Work includes documentation, automated testing, debugging, working with algorithms and data structures, coding, design, system performance scaling, and problem solving for highly technical and complex software programs. Responsibilities also include providing independent technical leadership of medium-sized projects across the mobile team of 10+ people, contributing to the development of new ideas and principles, and working on both short and long-range programs and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement brand new product requirements into future focused, high quality, and easily testable code written in React Native
  • Troubleshoot complex / legacy issues and improve app performance providing a roadmap to long term sustainable platform for the app
  • Able to make technology selection using process of experimenting, proof-of-concept implementation, and comparison to other industry leading technologies
  • Provide excellent daily support to a team of software developers including coaching and influencing their performance and progression of the team and in some cases across teams
  • Communicates status and plans in clear and concise way, able to think through risks and issue to find the best solution given the business and technical constraints
  • Independently evaluate the architecture of the mobile app and provide clear improvements using milestones and integrating these into product requirements
  • Write reusable, effective, as well as scalable code and create interchangeable modules to be used across the mobile app

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years mobile development experience
  • Demonstrated experience creating mobile applications using React Native
  • Able to pick up existing React Native code base and start contributing on day one
  • Expert understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, design patterns, commonly used algorithms, and analysis of algorithms.
  • Capable of debugging complex problems, analyzing logs in production systems, quickly understanding and developing upon existing code base
  • Working understanding of networking, request/response and REST APIs
  • Experience delivering apps on both Apple App Store & Google Play Store

Preferred Skills:

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD for mobile development
  • Experience developing using test automation frameworks

Other/State Specific

This role pays between $105k to $140k, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
