Job Description

The Linux Foundation is seeking a skilled and motivated Product Manager to join our team. As the Product Manager for Open Source Developer Metrics, you will play a pivotal role in defining and executing the strategy for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data analytics related to open source development within the Linux Foundation community. Your expertise in data analytics, open source ecosystems, and product management will enable you to drive impactful insights and support decision-making processes for our diverse community of developers.

The successful candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of Open Source Analytics, Design Thinking, and have the ability to speak to the specifics and benefits of a user-centered design process. You will have proven experience developing customer facing products analytics products, with knowledge of leading qualitative usability testing, quantitative research methodology, and the ability to conduct exploratory user research.

  1. Define Product Strategy: Collaborate with key stakeholders & customers to develop and refine the product strategy for open source developer metrics. Identify areas of opportunity and innovation in data analytics to drive continuous improvement in developer productivity, project health, and community engagement.
  2. Define the problems that need to be solved & Identify the corresponding win state KPIs
  3. Data Collection and Analysis: Design and implement processes to collect, clean, and analyze data from diverse sources within the Linux Foundation ecosystem. Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and availability of data required for insightful analysis.
  4. Metrics Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics relevant to open source development. Define methodologies for measuring and tracking developer productivity, project success, community growth, and other relevant factors. Continuously refine metrics based on evolving needs and industry best practices.
  5. Insights and Reporting: Transform raw data into actionable insights and meaningful reports. Create intuitive dashboards and visualizations to effectively communicate complex data to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Provide regular updates and presentations to leadership and the broader Linux Foundation community.
  6. Collaboration and Engagement: Collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and community members to understand their data needs and ensure alignment with product goals. Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making by promoting the value of metrics and analytics across the open-source ecosystem.
  7. Competitive Analysis: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the field of data analytics for open source development. Conduct regular competitive analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in the market and make recommendations for product enhancements or new offerings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in product management, with a focus on data analytics or metrics-driven products.
  • Solid understanding of open source development processes, tools, and communities.
  • Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically while paying attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
