Position Overview:
Zenni is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our team to help build, optimize, and scale the cloud infrastructure for our next-generation ecommerce platform. The SREs are responsible for the cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tools, security, monitoring and observability tools. Zenni Optical is a critical 24x7 ecommerce operation that handles millions of users per month so the primary responsibility of the SRE team is to make sure our platform is fast, efficient, reliable, secure and cost efficient.
You will be working closely with the architects and principal engineers at Zenni to develop and deploy secure, highly available and scalable web services. Our current transformation objective is to migrate from our current monolith J2EE tech stack running in data centers to a next-gen microservices architecture running in a cloud environment. This is a phenomenal role for someone who believes in building automation, driving simplification and crafting an impressive, five nines culture. The team is aggressively moving towards the "Infrastructure as Code" model. We are looking for someone with an "automation" mindset.
What we want you to own in this role:
- End to End Automation of system builds
- Ongoing scaling of our platform to support forecasted peak traffic
- “Infrastructure as code” standardization and improving automation of systems, processes, and services
- Participate in our b2b product line, and work with different customers
- Ensure CSR is set up correctly and maintained for various enterprise customers
- Provisioning servers or other services, configuring, building our code, deploying the code, as well as maintaining the environment
- Platform optimization including response time, error rate, cost effectiveness etc.
- Participate in on-call rotation
What skills do you need?
- At least 5 years of production engineering experience
- Experience with Kubernetes environments
- Experience with managing services on at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with CI/CD tools – GitHub workflows, Jenkins, GCP Cloud Build, Harness, Argo CD.
- Experience with CDN systems like Akamai, Cloudflare
- Hands-on experience automating infrastructure using Terraform or Ansible
- Ability to code in at least one programming language
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with GCP services – Cloud Run, Cloud Build, PubSub, GKE, Firestore, Cloud Armor, Cloud CDN will be a huge plus
- eCommerce experience

As of 01/01/2023, the expected salary range for this position is $150,000 to $175,000 CDN annually. Actual pay within this range will be based upon several factors, including without limitation education, work experience, certifications, geographic pay differentials, market conditions, and other business and organizational needs. The Company anticipates that the reasonably expected salary for this position could change in the future and, therefore, the Company retains the right to change, modify, or revisit the salary range for the position for various reasons, including the Company’s business needs.
