Sr. UX Content Writer

As a Senior UX Content Writer at Smartsheet, you work to ensure every word brings value to our users. You aim to write user-focused content that’s simple and straightforward. You edit and ensure quality with data-driven insights backed by UX principles. 

You spend equal amounts of time collaborating with designers as you do educating and building trust with cross-functional partners on UX writing and content strategy.

You drive guidelines and best practices, manage content strategy projects, and provide mentorship to writers and support to peers. Your frameworks, methods, critique, and knowledge raise the bar and help advance our content practice and make everyone at Smartsheet a better writer.

The Senior UX Content Writer will join a small content team in a multidisciplinary UX organization that also includes research and product design. While focused on a few specific areas of the platform, you’ll also work on projects that impact the whole end-to-end user experience.

You will report to our Sr. Manager, UX Content, located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Use writing and content design skills to create or consult on UI text that facilitates simple and delightful user experiences, including educational flows, promos, error messages, and other components.
  • Drive content vision for a product or feature area, documenting and communicating your strategies with guidelines and principles.
  • Manage strategic content needs in all phases of the product design process, identifying patterns, research, and priorities.
  • Create and maintain content tools and guides to ensure consistency across experiences.
  • Contribute to and conduct user research and usability testing to inform content decisions and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Influence and adapt to stakeholders and their feedback.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to peers. Edit content written by peers. 
  • Educate cross-functional partners on UX writing and content strategy.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in UX content writing and design.  
  • Stay knowledge about patterns and trends in the collaborative work management industry.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in UX writing or related, as well as leading content strategy projects. 
  • 5+ years of industry experience in a complex, cross-functional technology organization.
  • Strong collaboration skills creating content with cross-functional stakeholders during all phases of software product development.
  • Portfolio or examples of demonstrated skills and work.
  • Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design or wireframing tools.
  • Experience in content audits and analysis, conversational design, and information architecture.
  • Experience writing for accessibility and assistive technologies.
  • Experience writing for a global audience.
  • Experience with enterprise applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent practical experience.

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $118,800 to $172,800 | All other US States: $110,000 to $160,000.
