We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for reconciling accounts, processing payroll, preparing financial statements and analyzing financial data.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your strong organizational skills and bring process improvements to our rapidly growing company. You will assist with moving our AP function in house, preparing for audit, tax, budgeting and other annual processes while assisting with systems reviews.
About you:
- You have 2-5 years of experience working in accounting, preferably with a tech start up.
- You have experience with reconciling accounts and ensuring accuracy of financial data and reporting.
- You can assist with month end and year end close processes and external audit and tax needs.
- You can handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, growth environment and manage your time well while working remotely.
- You are comfortable with accounting and payroll systems such as, Quickbooks, Stripe, Bill.com, Brex, Remote.com, Rippling and are proficient in Excel.
- You have experience with preparing financials statements and reports in accordance with standard accounting principles and company policy.
- You are detail oriented and enjoy problem solving and finding solutions.
In the first month, you will:
- Get familiar with the company’s accounting policies and procedures, including the chart of account and financial systems
- Meet with the accounting team, Business Operations and HR to understand their roles and build relationships
- Attend necessary training sessions and meetings to further learn about the company and product
Within the first 3 months, you will:
- Review and reconcile bank statements, credit card statements and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assist in month end close process which will include journal entries and reconciliations
- Learn the payroll process and reconciliation for multiple systems
- Assist with moving AP in house
Within the first 6 months, you will:
- Identify areas of inefficiency or potential improvement in the accounting processes and provide recommendations to the team
- Work on the month end financial reporting package
- Assist with documentation of policies, procedures and processes
Within the first 12 months, you will:
- Assist in managing Audit and Tax work
- Manage and own the AR invoicing and Revenue Recognition process
- Review systems and make recommendations for growth
- Start working on any ad-hoc projects or tasks assigned by the team
