As a Product Designer at Coursera, you'll be an integral part of our Design, Research, and Brand Creative teams that play a vital role in Coursera's success. Collaborating across growth and platform teams—your role will involve translating learner and partner insights into user-centric experience strategies and design solutions that enhance the platform. Learning and transformation is inherently challenging. Our goal is to make education accessible to all, and we need extraordinary designers to realize this.
This role is positioned to oversee our learning experience to drive engagement and ensure successful learning outcomes throughout learners’ career journeys. Key goals include helping learners build consistent study habits, supporting mastery of course content, and integrating complementary, hands-on learning opportunities that promote skill-building through practice and application.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with research and teaching and learning experts to incorporate evidence-based pedagogical strategies into our learning experience that aid motivation, persistence, and retention. A high degree of competency with data and insights is essential to measure and improve learning efficacy and personalization that delivers customized learning at scale. They’ll be adept at monitoring trends and advancements in AI and emerging technologies to continuously inform and innovate our learning environment across platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Identify customer and business problems worth solving.
- Define compelling experience strategies that translate into innovative solutions that drive value.
- Lead end-to-end design processes: from concept ideation based on research and data insights to human-centered interfaces and interactions that engage and delight.
- Design scalable, responsive, and accessible experiences that enable growth.
- Leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design thinking and rationale.
- Closely collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, data scientists, content strategists, and researchers.
- Advocate for the learner and influence experience design decisions with peers and stakeholders.
- Inform and prioritize quarterly roadmaps, projects, and tasks effectively in a strategic Design Lead capacity.
- Lead by example. Coach and mentor designers on best practices and new advancements in design.
- Uphold design standards within the team and continuously raise the bar for the quality.
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years experience as a UX/Product Designer
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in design and systems thinking to facilitate workshops, develop solution frameworks, map IA models, craft user flows, wireframes, and construct prototypes.
- Expert in responsive and accessible web-based design solutions.
- Adept at leveraging, optimizing, and contributing to design systems and UI pattern libraries
- Expert in design, analytics, and collaboration tools like Figma, Amplitude, Full Story, Jira.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to craft and present findings and proposals in a compelling way to stakeholders.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts and test design solutions effectively.
- Experience in new product development and user research.
Nice-To-Have:
- Experience working across multiple platforms: responsive web, iOS, Android, TV, voice
- Experience as a course instructor or teaching assistant.
- Experience leading and facilitating large-scale design-thinking workshops.
- Experience maintaining localized and right-to-left experiences.
- Hybrid skill set across the design capabilities from UX to interaction and visual design.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base pay for this role is between $155,040 and $180,234. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
