As we look to expand AI assistance to all aspects of development workflow beyond auto-completion, we are looking for a talented and passionate product manager to join our product management team at GitHub Copilot!
GitHub Copilot - Your AI pair programmer is powered by the State-of-the-Art Open AI models and backed by Microsoft Azure Open AI service. As we experiment with Open AI models to expand Copilot’s capability from the single autocomplete to multiple experiences across developers workflow, it’s crucial for us to design guardrails in the product to ensure these models’ output is safe, secure, reliable and trustworthy.
In this role, you will drive cross company feature development with engineers and scientists at GH, DevDiv and Azure OAI to develop the guardrails; and drive RAI policy compliance with Azure RAI & safety, Office of Responsible AI, and GitHub Trust & safety team to ensure Copilot is developed and used responsibly. This role requires a good understanding of the open-source developer ecosystem particularly in the code safety area.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with top-notch engineers & scientists to drive RAI feature implementation from planning to final deployment and ensure Copilot users and customers enjoy the full benefit of these features.
- Design guardrails in the product to ensure these models output are safe, secure, reliable and trustworthy.
- Drive Responsible AI policy compliance, and the creation of AI generated code content safety moderation practices with various stakeholders across Microsoft and GitHub.
- Partner with peer product managers to develop RAI specific prompt crafting playbooks for Copilot partners and engineers/scientists.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years in a product management role, designing and shipping complex products for developers, ML professionals, or similar
- 3+ years of experience in machine learning and/or AI
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with OpenAI models.
- Understanding of NLU/NLP/NLG and language models.
- Experience in Responsible AI or Code safety
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively articulate complex technical problems in a simplified and easily understood manner
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and scientists, and the ability to influence team direction through leveraging competitive and industry research analysis
- Bachelor and/or advanced degree in CS, Machine Learning, NLP, or Computational Linguistics
Minimum salary of $118,100 to maximum $313,300.
In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role.
Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States.
