Staff Product Manager, Marketplace
About Mynd:
Mynd is a tech-enabled real estate company serving the $85B+ property management and real estate investment market. In the past few years, consumers have gained access to free stock trades, greater transparency in the mortgage market, and apps that make managing their money more convenient. Yet real estate investment, the most powerful tool for building generational wealth, has largely been the purview of wealthier individuals and professional money managers.
Mynd is determined to overhaul that paradigm.
At Mynd, we’re on a mission to democratize access to happy homes and sustainable investments by making the purchase of single-family residential real estate as effortless as other types of investments. Investing in real estate can be intimidating, especially for first-time buyers. Moreover, many potential investors don’t want to buy real estate in their geographic area, or have been priced out of competitive big city housing markets.
With operations in 25 markets across the U.S. and real-time insights via our platform, we remove the time, communication, and geographic barriers traditionally associated with buying real estate. Investors can now find, purchase, lease, manage, and sell single-family rental properties 100 percent remotely.
Mynd is Best Places to Work certified, a Built In SF Best Places to Work 2022 winner, and was named the #1 fastest-growing East Bay company by the San Francisco Business Times in 2021. We’ve attracted talent from McKinsey, BCG, Compass, Better, One Medical, Zillow, Upwork, WeWork, and Facebook. We’re backed by top VCs, including Lightspeed, Canaan, Jackson Square, and QED.

About the role:
Mynd is looking for a quantitative senior product leader to lead a new marketplace team. This team will enable Mynd to buy and sell properties at scale across the US. This person should have a passion for collaboration with data science, design, engineering, and many different ops teams. You can expect to manage billions of capital flowing through this platform annually.
Here are some problems you can expect to solve. If these get you excited then you should apply!
- There is a risk to every potential investment acquisition. How do we design an underwriting mechanism to mitigate risk and drive expected returns? Does the model change if we are buying one property vs. dozens? How does geography, asset type, and other features impact the underwriting?
- Investment properties are scattered all across the US. How should we source and integrate inventory into our data warehouse? How should these investments be presented to our partners?
- How should we inform investors (both retail and institutions) when to buy, where to buy, or when to sell? How would we productize 1031 exchanges? How would we broker a transaction within our platform between two existing investors?
- There is significant operational complexity to acquiring homes at scale. What operational workflows (e.g. closing a property) should we automate versus using people to manage? What partnerships should we explore to expedite these operational workflows?
- How should we think about bringing this marketplace functionality self service to the investor? How could the investor manage these processes all through our mobile app?
Responsibilities:
- Establish a strong product vision and strategy to inform the management team how to execute and scale this new product area.
- Lead a cross-functional team of designers, engineers, and data science to build and ship impactful products and features
- Partner with various business leads and tech leads in developing a new suite of products to help Mynd reach its vision.

Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years experience building software as a Senior Product Manager or equivalent experience.
- Highly analytical and strive to always make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrated success in delivering new products and features from customer/market research & data insights.

- Technical background working with engineering and data teams.
- Confidence in professional aptitude and ability to effectively convey skills and knowledge to non-technical stakeholders and external customers.
- Demonstrated success in a high-growth, operationally intense environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to influence cross-functional teams and executives.
