About the job
This position is needed to own Twilio’s policies and filtering rules for in-flight traffic filtering to prevent SPAM and fraud from leaving our platform. .
We are looking for a Systems Administrator for our Global Fraud Operations organization, which consists of operations managers, specialists and analysts. This is a full time remote role. You’ll influence a team of managers and specialists and have extensive knowledge of the creation of filters and rulesets. You’ll design and execute spam and fraud mitigation projects.
We’re looking for someone who pays attention to detail, is passionate about working to the highest level of accuracy and is comfortable communicating with both internal stakeholders at a technical level and external commercial partners.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Act as the owner for Twilio’s in-flight traffic monitoring to prevent SPAM and fraud from leaving our network.
- Use your technical expertise to create and maintain SPAM and fraud policies on the AdaptiveMobile client platform.
- Use your expertise with the current threat landscape to prevent bad actors from sending fraudulent and non-compliant traffic from Twilio’s platform.
- Analyze data collected from customers’ traffic to identify and investigate threats while minimizing false positives.
- Work on your own initiative, with minimal supervision, but with the support of a Sr. Manager, product managers, and a global team of analysts.
- Partner with product, engineering and customer support teams to strike a balance between risk mitigation and the customer experience.
- Translate business requirements into effective rules for our spam and fraud filtering platform.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and meticulously follow step-by-step processes while creating, managing, and updating rulesets and rules.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with a strong focus on rule-based systems, preferably in the context of spam filtering, fraud rules, or cybersecurity
- Thorough understanding of rule-based systems and their application in a spam filtering context.
- Basic familiarity with SQL/Database concepts
- Ability to communicate concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule; working North America hours, weekends and holidays may be required
Desired:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP and DNS
- Strong understanding of telecommunications networks, A2P messaging, and industry-specific compliance regulations.
- Demonstrated experience using machine learning and/or data-driven approaches to enhance spam and fraud filtering accuracy.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado: $109,000-$135,000.
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
