The Role and Responsibilities
The Senior Systems Admin / IT Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our company's computer systems, supporting a global team in a 100% remote setting. This role will take the lead in maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting our IT infrastructure to ensure efficient and seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems Administration:
- Design, install, configure, and maintain company network devices, and cloud services ensuring peak performance.
- Monitor systems to ensure security, availability, and performance.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Coordinate and communicate with third-party vendors for system-related services.
- Remote Support:
- Provide technical support for remote employees, assisting with hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Facilitate onboarding of new employees, ensuring their IT needs are met and that they have the necessary equipment and access.
- Develop and maintain documentation for troubleshooting and resolving remote IT issues.
- Manage remote access solutions to ensure secure and seamless connectivity for all team members.
- Security:
- Implement and monitor security measures to protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber threats.
- Conduct regular security audits and recommend enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Project Management:
- Evaluate and recommend innovative IT solutions to support company growth.
- Lead IT-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, especially those pertinent to a remote-first environment.
- Training & Collaboration:
- Develop and deliver IT training for employees to ensure effective use of technology.
- Collaborate with other departments to determine IT needs and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Foster a culture of knowledge-sharing among the IT team and the wider company.
Tech Stack
- Device Management with Kandji
- Implement, configure, and manage Kandji as the primary MDM (Mobile Device Management) solution for all Mac devices across the organization.
- Enforce device compliance policies, security measures, and standard configurations for all company Mac devices.
- Leverage Kandjiβs library of pre-built blueprints to automate device setup and ensure best practices.
- Monitor device health and performance, ensuring optimal operations across all company endpoints.
- Apple Business Manager
- Integrate Mac hardware purchases with Apple Business Manager.
- Implement and manage Volume Purchase Programs (VPP) and Device Enrollment Programs (DEP) using Apple Business Manager.
- Coordinate deployment, licensing, and reassignment of apps and content to end-users.
- Zero Trust Security
- Implement and maintain the Cloudflare Zero Trust framework to ensure secure and direct access to applications, irrespective of user location.
- Design and enforce security policies aligned with Zero Trust principles.
- Monitor for any anomalies or breaches and respond swiftly to potential security incidents.
- Ensure integration of Zero Trust with other platforms and services to guarantee a streamlined and secure user experience.

The Next Steps

Job requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with a preference for candidates with experience in remote-first companies.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, networks, cloud platforms, and security protocols.
- Familiarity with remote support tools and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional languages are a plus.
