Systems Engineer

VetsEZ is seeking a Systems Engineer to be a part of a remote team. The Systems Engineer provides technical support in system architecture, system design, system integration and technical management. This candidate will assists in providing technical input to the systems engineering process and requirements analysis. They may prepare and present systems assurance reviews, identify requirements and deficiencies in hardware and software products. They will also advises customer in product selection and use, capacity planning operations and performance management.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems.
  • Install and configure software/hardware components, and leverage IT helpdesk staff for routine tasks by clearly documenting design, maintenance, and support procedures.
  • Implement controls to ensure systems effectively meet the organization's quality standards in accordance with Level 3 PLM maturity.
  • Engage in quality control procedures to ensure that systems are efficient and operational.
  • Manage and monitor infrastructure and system installations, including patching, maintenance, usage statistics, and logs.
  • Maintain baseline configurations and perform modification of configuration settings.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues and implement solutions proactively adhering to VA processes.
  • Maintain Component System Inventory report.
  • Standardize and automate processes using scripting technology.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer engineering or computer science.
  • 3+ years of related work experience.
  • Well versed with Windows-based server operating systems, as well as common Virtualization technologies specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Analyze complex information and independently take appropriate actions to resolve problems.
  • Experience identifying, analyzing, and resolving system problem.
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.
  • Identify requirements and deficiencies in hardware and software products.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2.
  • Familiarity with VistA file structure and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with design and architecture of projects specific to any dependency to VistA.
  • Knowledge of DICOM/HL7 radiology workflows.
