Job Description

We are looking for a tax manager to provide strong leadership to our tax department. To succeed as Privia’s tax manager, you should be focused on optimizing department processes and building lasting relationships with others across all departments of the business. You should be knowledgeable, with a positive attitude, analytical, and decisive with excellent communication and leadership skills. Our business is growing quickly and this is a position that requires the incumbent to be involved in the day to day control activities concerning the tax process area.

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this position will be responsible for leading the daily tax operations and for developing and maintaining best practices and procedures in compliance with internal accounting and SOX related policies. The Tax Manager will ensure timely processing and delivery of partnership returns for the organization, will manage the quarterly tax provision process, will be involved in entity formation and tax registration events, and will ensure accuracy and timely month-end close close procedures for all tax matters. The ideal candidate will be able to work with personnel across all levels of our organization, have proven success in high volume tax structure, working knowledge of best practices and procedures in a corporate tax environment, and the ability to combine management responsibilities with doing hands-on work.

The Tax Manager will also participate in related process improvement projects, as well as help establish, monitor, and report on key departmental performance indicators (KPIs) for project management purposes. Essential functions of this job include:

  • Project manage the quarterly corporate income tax provision process.
  • Oversee the timely production and delivery of all partnership and related income tax returns 
  • Oversee the production and filing of the Company’s corporate state and federal income tax returns
  • Other tax return preparation and review as needed, including sales tax, business license, franchise, property and payroll tax returns
  • Participate in strategic tax initiatives.
  • Consult on tax matters concerning acquisitions.
  • Maintain accurate accounting files and records in accordance with organization business policies, GAAP, and internal control activities.
  • Maintain the annual risk assessment for the income tax process area.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by implementing process improvements, technology driven solutions, and automation.
  • Assist with accounting department audit requests and other projects.
  • Maintain, record, and analyze departmental metrics and provide reporting and analyses to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting strongly preferred or relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of proven success in a partnership and corporate tax environment.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Professional integrity, highly motivated, detail-oriented, deadline driven.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with peers (customer focused), and cross-functionally within the company.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or large ERP system a plus.
  • Ability to meet internal and external deadlines in a fast-paced SOX compliant environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand issues, demonstrate resourcefulness, and pro-actively and creatively resolve problems.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, must have demonstrated ability to work well with people.
