Role

Trail of Bits seeks a Technical Editor II who demonstrates exemplary writing, editing, communication, and analytical skills and possesses a foundational grasp of cybersecurity principles or extensive experience within another technical discipline. 

Our team consumes, produces, and presents research as a natural part of doing business. When we make new discoveries or developments, we strive to share our knowledge and release our tools as open source. Your role will ensure the high quality of client deliverables and published content for our software assurance offerings (appsec, blockchain, cryptography, AI/ML) by working closely with security engineers, leveraging your exceptional writing, editing, and critical thinking skills.

What You’ll Achieve

  • Editing and Quality Assurance: Edit and finalize technical reports, ensuring error-free content that adheres to style and brand guidelines. You will also review and refine documents to maintain consistency and clarity, enhancing the overall readability and professionalism of the reports.
  • Timely Delivery: Deliver various content types on a deadline in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround projects. You will prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Standards Maintenance and Training: Contribute to internal documentation, assist in conducting writing workshops, and help develop training materials to improve staff writing skills.
  • Workflow Improvement: Identify and implement strategies to improve the technical editing workflow in collaboration with the editorial team.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in technical editing or writing, particularly within the technology or cybersecurity sectors, with a proven track record of reviewing technical documentation of security engagements.
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with technical and non-technical team members across multiple departments.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, contributing to workflow improvements and maintaining internal documentation.
  • Experience with digital content platforms and tools like G Suite, GitHub, and WordPress to facilitate seamless content creation and management.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and the current threat landscape is preferred.

Reporting Manager: Lead Technical Editor

The base salary for this full-time position ranges from $100,000 to $140,000, excluding benefits and potential bonuses. Various factors influence our salary ranges, including the specific role, level of seniority, geographic location, and the nature of the employment contract. An individual's specific work location, unique skills, experience, and relevant educational background will determine the final offer within this range. The presented salary range encompasses the starting salaries for all U.S. locations.
