We're hiring a Technical Product Manager at Gitpod.

Reporting to our Chief Technology Officer, you'll be at the intersection of data, user behavior, and product strategy, transforming complex insights into actionable product decisions. You'll own our product analytics and experimentation initiatives while working closely with Engineering, Sales, and Customer Experience teams to drive evidence-based product improvements. This role combines quantitative rigor with qualitative research to shape our product direction and maximize revenue impact through thoughtful, data-driven decision making.

Who we are

Five years ago, we set out to create a world where every developer is instantly ready-to-code. With over 1.5 million users, we are now the leading platform for standardized and automated development environments. Our ROI calculator demonstrates how we help customers save nearly $1,000,000 annually for every 100 engineers using Gitpod. Developers use Gitpod an average of 36 hours per week, and our enterprise revenue has grown tenfold since last year.

We're a talent-dense group of people who transform how software is created and delivered, working to empower every company, every team, and every individual to succeed in a software-first world. We care deeply, and for many of us, building Gitpod is our life's work.

Our operating values are an authentic representation of how we show up and make decisions. We choose colleagues carefully based on merit and their alignment with those principles. If this excites you, we would love for you to apply so we can connect.

Role responsibilities

Everyone that joins Gitpod is responsible for enhancing our culture. We hold our operating values as the standard that we drive towards. Joining Gitpod means you have ownership around forming our culture by living out these values.

  • Own metrics definitions, dashboard creation, quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting. Simply put: transform complex data into actionable product insights
  • Develop and execute a research strategy to identify market trends and competitive landscape, test hypotheses about user behavior and needs, and prepare evidence-based recommendations for product strategy
  • Design and run A/B testing to validate product assumptions, establish feedback loops, manage full-cycle product launch metrics, and document learnings to adjust our approach.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Engineering, Sales, and Customer Experience to determine prospect/customer pain points and technical feasibility for product improvement.
  • Synthesize all insights to enable us to plan work on a consistent basis, tying all decisions to revenue impact. Prepare strategic recommendations and build business cases for new product investments. Maintain regular planning cycles while supporting the team’s execution efforts.

At the end of your first 30 days, you will have:

  • Gained a deep understanding of the product, it’s value, benefits, drawbacks
  • Connected directly with key users and customers to build empathy for how they’re perceiving the product.
  • You've identified key users, engaged in numerous conversations with them, summarized the learnings, and derived actionable insights that translate into product changes.
  • Taken stock of our analytics and visibility into the product’s use.
  • Actively engaged in the forward looking product conversations (quarterly planning, design jams, product strategy conversations, bets).
  • You have have proposed a solution for how you want to plan quarter over quarter.
