Technical Product Owner
Nielsen‘s mission is to help marketers and media companies measure and improve advertising performance by accurately reporting on what consumers watch, see, or hear (whether on television, the web, in print, or on the radio).
Nielsen is looking for a Technical Product Owner in its Product Organization to drive product development & technical initiatives for the Panel Portfolio. This portfolio supports Nielsen’s most important functions, the recruitment, installation, and maintenance of our Audio, Digital, and Television Panels.
A Technical Product Owner is expected to partner with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives related to new product development. As a Technical Product Owner, you will work closely with Product Managers and other Technical Product Owners, as well as technology leaders and development teams, to drive development efforts for our most critical Television Panel Management product.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage sprint and release plans for product development initiatives.
- Rally associates from Development, Product, and key stakeholder groups to deliver projects related to product development and research.
- Work directly with application development teams to drive requirements and build user stories in agile development.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies (Standups, Sprint Planning, Retrospective, Demos, Backlog Grooming)
- Ensure alignment on scope across all stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of product development.
- Communicate overall status of initiatives and escalate issues to senior leadership.
- Participate in our planning increment process, aligning planned work for the development teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, systems analysis, or computer science preferred
- 7+ years in a dynamic business environment with most experience in technology-focused roles
- Knowledge of Agile development practices required
- Experience working closely with technical teams and key stakeholder groups required
- Familiarity with Java and AWS technology or Nielsen data/process desired
- A bias for change and the ability to influence a team toward a culture of quality
- Strong communication, persuasion, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively manage multiple competing initiatives
- Able to listen and quickly distill a situation to recommend a course of action in driving project deliverables
- Ability to translate between business and technical needs
- Experience owning products utilized by Operations teams desired
- Experience owning and working with products containing complex/large processes required

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be $50,000 - $185,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs.
