About the Role

The Technical Writer is responsible for the creation, curation, and publication of Bluebeam’s customer-focused Support content. To ensure customer success with Bluebeam products, the Technical Writer shapes our users’ experiences by writing high-quality, short-form articles, such as how-tos, troubleshooting, tips & tricks, and subscription & registration. The Technical Writer also creates detailed documentation like installation guides and tutorials.

The Technical Writer works collaboratively within the team of writers, reviewing and editing each other’s content. This content is hosted on our help site, support.bluebeam.com, which all technical writers actively assist in maintaining.

What You’ll Do

  • Writes, formats, edits, reviews, and publishes customer-facing Support content.
  • Applies a deep knowledge of written voice, tone, and style to all content, consistent with brand guidelines.
  • Collaborates across teams to ensure the timely release of Support notices, release notes, and other important customer-facing content.
  • Monitors internal chat systems (Slack) for potential issues with Support site, and suggestions for improvements from other teams.

What We'd Like To See In You

  • 2-3 years of technical writing experience
  • Outstanding written, proofreading and editing skills; be precise and concise and use grammar properly.
  • Uses surveys, website feedback forms, chatbot data, and technical support knowledge shares to analyze customer opinions and emotions and identify gaps and opportunities to adapt your writing to create documentation that is best aligned with how Bluebeam customers see and build our world. 
  • Solid understanding of Windows operating system (i.e., folder hierarchies, installing and uninstalling programs and drivers, etc.).
  • Ability to work with authoring tools such as MadCap Flare, Google Docs, Bitbucket and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Manual of Style and/or writing guidelines in general.
  • Experience or familiarity with markup languages such as HTML, CSS, and XML.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced remote environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Supports a positive and open culture; exhibits exceptional interpersonal skills, is comfortable with collaboration, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Team player attitude, proactivity, and open mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of technical writing experience. 
  • Experience and/or familiarity with UX writing and usability principles and how content strategy and creation contributes to the user experience.
  • Experience in Salesforce or Gainsight Communities and Knowledge.
  • Previous customer service experience. While not interfacing with customers directly, our team is ultimately a customer-facing team. Understanding the needs of our customers is an important part of managing a website that serves them best.
  • Experience with architectural or structural programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Tekla or SolidWorks.
  • Experience working within the AEC (Architectural, Engineering, and Construction) industry.
  • SaaS experience.
  • Localization familiarity and/or experience.

Base pay offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations. Base pay is one part of Bluebeam’s Total Rewards program, which seeks to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable commission plan, while most non-sales position are eligible for a bonus under the terms of an applicable bonus plan.
