Our Customer is an American financial services mutual organization based in Milwaukee. The financial security company provides consultation on wealth and asset income protection, education planning, retirement planning, investment advisory services, financial planning trust and private client services, estate planning, and business planning. Its products include life insurance, permanent life insurance, disability income, and long-term care insurance; annuities; investments; and investment advisory products and services.

Our customer is looking for a Technical Product Writer knowledgeable about the Financial Services industry, specifically with an understanding of insurance and investment products and services. Experience in simplifying complex product capabilities to help drive understanding and consideration with consumers is necessary. This role will collaborate across the organization to develop consumer-facing assets that support the overall enterprise sales objectives – including, but not limited to, product brochures, white papers and executive summaries, concept pages, video scripts, company website, and advisor websites. This writer will report to the Senior Director of Product Marketing and join a passionate team focused on creating clarity around the role the products play in a financial plan to improve the lives of the audience and help reach the company's business goals. This role is 100% remote.

What You'll Do:

  • Conceive, research, write, and edit product-specific resources/assets that position the capabilities of Insurance and Investment products and services in a simplified and compelling way based on the needs of very specific targeted audience segments. (Insurance products include Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Long-term Care Insurance. Investment products include both Advisory and Brokerage offerings as well as Annuities)
  • Work cross-functionally and build relationships with Insurance and/or Investment product subject matter experts and the product marketing team to gain a deep understanding of how the products work
  • Bring intangible products to life with concise and clear translations of technical product capabilities that balance accuracy, the needs of consumers, and the company brand
  • Develop multiple formats that accommodate B2B, B2B2C, and direct-to-consumer go-to-market channels (Product brochures, one-pagers, concept pages, web pages, video scripts, etc.)
  • Manage the internal review process including routing content through subject matter expert review, creative, law, compliance, and other business partners as needed
  • Drive the creation and/or editing of multiple assets, across multiple products at any given time (from 15-20 assets at a time) from start to finish and apply learnings as ideas for future asset creation

Must-Haves

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience working with subject matter experts to create assets that simplify technical product capabilities
  • Experience and knowledge in either the Insurance industry or the Investment industry are required, experience in both is a bonus (specifically, with Permanent Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Annuities).
  • An established knowledge of financial services products, specifically Insurance (Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Long-term Care Insurance) and Investments (both Advisory and Brokerage offerings as well as Annuities)
  • Technical aptitude: Demonstrate an ability to understand complicated, technical product capabilities and then translate them into simplified accurate language
  • Organization Skills: Demonstrated superior ability to manage multiple complex projects and deadlines in fast-paced, team and independent environments
  • Analytical Skills: Results-driven focus with the ability to use data intelligence to influence decisions and refine strategies

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, or a related field

Hours & Location:

  • M-F, 40 hours/week. This role will be 100% remote.
