Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will prepare technical documentation for statistical learning and econometric models, ensuring all models are in compliance with enterprise governance controls and enterprise risk management requirements. 

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE 

The Technical Writing - Model Management role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities: 

  • For existing models, the writer will use internal standards and templates to assess documentation gaps and work closely with the data scientists and project managers to obtain required information and close any existing gaps in a timely manner. 
  • For new models, the writer will work alongside the data science team to create required documentation that describes the model in detail in line with internal standards and templates, including their business context, theoretical framework, methodology, statistical and performance testing, and other topics. 
  • Serve as a bridge between the development teams and the risk management teams, providing expertise to the data science team about the enterprise model risk management standards and requirements, and supporting the data scientists during the model review process. 
  • Gather information about technical products, policies, or other elements. 
  • Develop documents that translate technical information in non-technical terminology. 
  • Work with customers to ensure documentation meets their needs. 
  • Revise existing documentation as needed. 

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM 

Minimum Required Experiences 

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience 
  • Exceptional written communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills. 
  • Experience writing technical documents for technical audiences. 
  • Familiarity with data science and statistical learning models and techniques (regression and classification). 
  • Familiarity with statistical testing methodologies (hypothesis testing, variable significance testing, collinearity testing, etc.). 
  • Ability to read and understand Python, R and/or SQL code. 
  • Experience working with databases is desirable but not required. 
  • Knowledge of the mortgage industry and/or MBS markets is desirable but not required. 

Desired Experiences 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
  • Familiarity with the Quarto publishing platform or Markdown language is a plus. 
  • An excellent team player.  
  • Able to learn technical material quickly and independently.  
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced team environment.   
  • Able to work independently, managing workload and deadlines effectively.   
  • Able to collaborate with developers to obtain required information in a timely manner.  
  • Expert in Microsoft Word and very familiar with other Microsoft 365 products.
